SAT Radio Reception Issues

Hey, wanted to find out if anyone else is having reception issues with their 07?

I have XM since I have the NAV package. Lately the reception has been ****ty in the NYC/Central Jersey area for me. It keeps cutting in and out all the time and it's getting frickin' annoying as hell.

Wanted to see if anyone else has had such an issue.

Thanks.

Only times I have gotten drops is when I spend more than 5-7 seconds under an overpass.

Does it work when parked in your garage?

I haven't had any problems except under overpasses and behind one particular mountain when I go snowboarding. It even works in my underground parking spot at work.

Mine has no reception problems (but we don't have tall buildings around here !!!)...

It however has trouble working in my garage -- not all channels work inside the garage --- some do and some don't !

XM uses both satellites and terrestrial for delivery. The terrestrial is normally only in large cities where line of site of the satellite is not guaranteed. You will notice as you travel through tunnels in a city that most of the time you will not lose your signal.

I live just outside of Seattle. This is tree country and trips over to Redmond resulted in signal loss. In the city it is fine because of the terrestrial transmitter.

I suspect that your area is not covered by both the terrestrial and satellite. Ironic when XM claims it has better terrestrial coverage, but Sirrius has a better orbit for it's satellites. So pick your evil.

I have had both here in the NW and neither are perfect with guaranteed signal loss when going down a road with trees on each side. The reason why I did not renew my subscription is because of this issue. We're not talking country roads either. I'm talking Redmond Way off I405.

5-7 seconds? My signal cuts out momentarily many times as I'm just driving under a regular overpass at like 65mph, where I'm only under for a second or less.

Apparantly NYC hasnt picked up this feature yet. I get reminded that I'm listening to satellite every morning when I drive into the Midtown Tunnel and the music goes bye bye...so for the 5 mins I spend in the tunnel, I listen to good old FM.

I would think that NYC has repeaters. I know they have a lot there for Sirius.

Haven't really listened to XM lately (not since I got a car with a CF slot in it ) but from the few times I DID listen to XM, I didn't notice any problems. I'd have the antenna checked by the dealer.

There is a certain street in my city that the reception will cut out. There is nothing overhead except a bunch of power lines.

Other than that specific street, it works great.
