Little Metal Tag

According to our owner's manual, we are supposed to receive a little metal tag with the car id# on it. I think this is for if they have to reproduce any keys should the first two become lost. According to the manual, it needs to be kept in safe place (and not your car). I never got it from the dealer. I am waiting for a call back from them. Should I be looking somewhere in the car? The salesman doesn't seem to know what I was referring to.

when i got my car, it was attached to a keyring that was on one of my intelligent keys.
I'm always amused whenever sales reps say they don't know what you're talking about because every single car I've bought (and my wife has bought) has come with the little tag with the ID number.

Mine was missing when I took delivery. I called the salesman and he found it on his desk where he had gone over the owner's manual and such with me. He mailed it to me, but he said that you don't really need it as Infiniti can look up your info by VIN to make another key as well.

Funny thing you mentioned that. My sales guy just called me up, same exact situation, he left it there. I told him to mail it but I think I am going to go pick it up, as it's pretty sensitive in case it gets lost.

Yeah I've also had one with every Infiniti I've purchased - but have NEVER needed it.

I didn't get it either. I totally forgot asking about it as I was too preoccupied with the new Genie... Unfortunately, it's been a month since I picked it up and I highly doubt my guy still has it on his desk. I just sent him an email enquiring about this.

As I've posted it above, I picked up my car more than a month ago and never got the tag. Just wanted to let everyone know that it is possible to duplicate the key if needed even without the tag. Your dealership should be able to cross-match it with your VIN#. I emailed my salesman yesterday letting him know that I don't have the tag and he just responded back with my key number.

My sales guy at Thousand Oaks Infiniti taped the metal tag to his business card and told me to keep it safe...anywhere but my wallet or in the car.
