Will you be keeping this outside or inside?
I had a new black Audi a few years ago that I kept outside in a driveway. I brought a top of the line cover from CoverCraft (about $300) and used it for about 8 months.
Why did I stop? The car needed to be absolutely clean before putting the cover on. Even still, I began to notice "hazy/fuzzy" spots along the edge of the trunk and the edge of the front fenders. It turned out that the weight of the cover combined with dust managed to "buff" the clearcoat on the spots of the car that had the most contact with the cover. Since my car was outside, the wind would also cause minor movement even though I had everything tied down.
Between the pain of putting it on and off plus the haze marks, I gave up on using it.
Maybe they have newer lighter materials now, but I'm just going to keep the G washed and waxed on a regular basis instead.

I've owned car covers and have one ordered from Griot's Garage for the new G. Car is garaged, but sits in the parking lot at work. Lots of bird stuff, tree droppings, and don't even think about the sprinkler that hits your hood in the summer time and then dries in 100 deg sun. Detail time. Also provides some protection against the other guys car door. Only downside is getting it ripped off - depends on where ya work I guess.

I had an expensive one (Evolution 3)for the Mazda which for the last 6 years of car ownership was used outside to cover the car from Dec. to April. I had no problem whatsoever with paint marring, chafing etc at all. (Mazda had hard paint though. When snow accumulated in the winter (roof, hood, trunk) it worked well to keep the cover from moving around.
I wouldn't buy one for a vehicle that is going to be in regular usage year round. It's a small PITA taking on and off and you will risk some marring with wind and even a slightly dirty car before putting it on.

If you're going to keep your car outside, I would definitely recommend it. Check what brand is provided in the dealership catalogs and see if you can find the same thing cheaper online. My bimmer used to be in the garage AND covered just to keep dust off...Imagine what stuff flies around outside (ie street cleaners throwing crap around, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, kids with butter fingers who couldn't quite catch that ball in time etc) But yeah...I would definitely get one just to keep the car looking new. However make sure that the inside of the cover stays clean and doesnt have any harsh dirt that could scratch the paint.

I must admit, the finish on all my vehicles has stayed quite good considering they see all the elements while sitting outdoors.

Just to add some more info here.
Remember, my car was black, and you all know how you can see every little imperfection on the paint. If I had silver or something lighter, I may not of noticed the marks for quite a while. I was able to remove most of them after the fact with 3M Imperial hand glaze.
My major issue was wind. I had the locking cable tied across the bottom of the cover and even though the cover was specific to my car, I would notice the cover billowing at times.
I'm in the process of looking to get another car (not black, grey) that won't get daily use and I'm debating about getting a cover for it again. I would love to hear if anyone else had similar problems as I did.
