Angry 07 G Grille a POC!!!

Was washing my G today, and if you look at the DAMN Cheap Grille Infiniti used on the G, I can see all kinds of Scratches!! And I wash the whole car very lightly. Guess when the dirt from the wet Roads and the spray from other cars driving, when u wash it,. the Grille is so Cheap Quality that the Dirt u are washing off scratches the Hell out of the Grille!! Along with the Pits in the Grille from road debris like eveyone else has . Man and i just broke 1000mi Last night, and the Grille looks like it is 3yrs old! Sure Hope Infiniti comes up with a more Durable Grille! this is just Rediculous for a car of this Price range! Sorry Just had to Vent! Fell a little better now.

Hey Brahddah...

Yea, welcome to the club... Just wait till you start to get the paint chips happening!... If you have not clear bra'd yet, do it soooon... or be prepared to re-paint in a year or two...

Luckly HI does not have the blowing dust / sand like we got in AZ tho...

Now go take that bad boy for a trip on the Likelike Highway and take the twisties!

thread is useless without pics.

please post some. I've never seen it.

I'm not suprised, though, as this is just a rebadged nissan. The same cheapness for nissan is brought over to infiniti.

When i get mine, i'll be sure to clear bra that crap.

when i test drove this car, i noticed the same cheap chrome plated plastic on the inside door handles. It's of sticker quality. Not quite the same as the lexus chrome plates.

No kidding. Thank goodness all they have around there is that sand derived from soft volcanic rock...

Sorry won't be able to see it with Pics, it's alot of Fine Scratches! It's like say rubbing your paint with your Fingers with Dirt on it! It will leave alot of fine thin scratches! the Kine you just can't stand!! LOL

Yea on Oahu. there is no Volcaninc sand, moslty rain! Just regular Sand at the beaches, LOL. And the worst kine is the RED DIRT! if you don't wash that stuff off you car after about a week! It will take forever to come off, or worse it'll just stain your Paint!

I have tried to get some pics of mine, its tough though.

I had its first service fri at Infiniti of Chantilly and showed the service manager, salesman etc. He said that 3 of them (not sure of the 3rd) had a lengthy discussion about it and were 'very disapointed' in the poor quality. They said they would try and figure out what/if anything can be done about it. Its noted on my service reciept, but, I dont expect anything to come of it really-

I hear ya Mike. I notice new chips on my grille pretty much everytime I wash it. I absolutely love pretty much everything about this car, but the grille quality is truly sad. I too hope that Infiniti rectifies this.

a few strips of 3m should be easy to DIY.

but this also gives you a reason to get an aftermarket grille in the future.

Having to cover the grill with a "clear bra" is absolutely not acceptable. Call consumer affairs and start your paper trail for a claim. This is total bull and should be addressed. It's bad enough that the paint on these cars stinks, now the plastic has issues. When will it end? Not acceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!. Complain.

Important to let the dealers know about this - I think they already do.
But probably don't have a solution yet. Not until they come up with a replacement grill.

In the interim, I found a part number for the 3M roll, but no where to buy it:
_______________________________________________
Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film, Roll, 84706, 6 in x 20 yds, 1 per case
An alternative to bug shields or vehicle bras. 12 mil, clear-coated urethane film that helps preserve the vehicle finish. The application is meant to be permanent; however, it can be removed if desired. PN84706, 6 in x 20 yds

GTIN(UPC/EAN) : 0 00 51141 84706 1
3M Id : 75-3470-1872-5
Buyer's Part Number : 84706

Try this link for a grille kit...

Try this link for one dealer. Not sure they have kits for the G35, but the website says they have them for most cars.
