Thumbs up 07 G35 Sedan TOPS OF ITS CLASS by Consumer Reports!

I just received the latest issue of Consumer Reports and in its annual review of upscale sedans (includes many of the Acura's, Lexus sedans, BMW 3-series, and Benz C-series), the Infiniti 2007 G35 sedan journey was the highest rated sedan! It goes to show you that even the experts agree that this car ROCKS!

It's funny how car mags always rate the BMW 3-series top in its class year after year. And honestly, within my circle of friends and family, all previous BMW 3-series owners have been dissatisfied with the experience!

Sad that there isn't a single American vehicle on the list

But of course, everyone here knows that.

Actually, from my magazine, the Cadillac CTS ranked 8th and the Jaguar X-Type ranked 10th in the "sporty sedan" category (out of 12 cars). Understandably, the Saab 9-3 and Volvo S60 ranked the lowest. The Saab has always had reliability issues and the Volvo has constantly been panned for low quality finish and materials.

Kudos to Infiniti for such high rankings..........I'm not surprised and I'm sure many of us aren't while we enjoy our Infinitis.

By the same token, tho, BMW has set the bar so high for a long time making it the car to compare to (despite your friends' experiences....)

C.

I have liked the exteriors of the Volvo since the family redesign. I would even say that the S40 has my favorite > $90K exterior. But man, while car shopping, and just sitting inside an S80, I just could not believe just how sh*tty and cheap that car felt. It was unreal. My Honda feels nicer.

I just don't see $90000.

I agree with you that the new Volvo exteriors look very stylish. I was even considering the Volvo before I got the G35 sedan. However, after going to the local Volvo dealer (only 2 blocks from my house, actually), I was a bit disappointed with the Volvo interior...at least for the smaller models. It was very plasticky and cheap looking.

Had a VOLVO [200 V40] and it was the shortest ownership in my life...from the car itself to the more than horrible service/dealership.

I was looking at the V50 but I still have my reservations about Volvo quality.
How have the newer Volvos held up?

I have a 2005 cross country with approx 25K miles that hasn't given us any trouble at all. The only reason its been back to the dealer has been for routine service, which has been paid for by the dealer (I don't know if thats a Volvo thing, or if its unique to this dealer)

The ride and power is good for a wagon, and the interior is nice enough, though lacking in the gadget category.

Consumer reports is great for rating toasters and lawn movers... but they suck when it comes to cars... Unless you want to know which one has the deepest cup holder or biggest glovebox.
Yet you call them experts when they choose the G and think its funny when they pick the BMW all the time as their best pick.
BMW's are not for me... But I do appreciate their engineering and going the extra mile to do it right when others are just trying to cut back and save money.
