who is right? are you doing your own calculations with total miles/total gallons purchased?

14-16 are the numbers I see on my dash for everday mixed Hw/City driving just before I fill up(normally a little over 3/4 tank). The manual calculation miles/gallons pumped is close to what the dash states. If you have read what I said earlier about the 20-18, its pure highway miles. Once I exit off the highway and get to my destination, it usually drops to 18 fairly quickly.

I'm managing roughly 16MPG with 2150 on the odo, but I attribute most of that to that thing called "intoxicating engine noise". 60% highway, 40% rual.

I hope things will improve as yours did
Exactly the same situation... LOL

It did go up from around 14.5 tho'.

I am surprised that more of you guys haven't seen a significant increase in your fuel economy. I am getting a good 150 kms per tank increase since I first got my G. I've now got 4725 kms on my G.

I figured it out. up to 500 miles i was getting between 13 and 14 mpg. After filling up my third time i wanted to try something. I stopped driving like an A$$ and my milage went up to 18mpg. I guess it is all in how you drive.

in your case maybe. probably its just a hit-or-miss thingy with the new Gs. The discrepancy is too great. For me i grandma-ed the pedal in itsy bitsy increments and still got bad mileage. I'm already at 4k miles. Hopefully there is a miracle break-in number that I haven't got to just yet.

maybe it has to do with what percentage you drive hwy, and how fast you go on the hwy.

last time i was in boston, i don't remember the hwy being too wide, or cars driving particularly fast.

Strangely I got around 20mpg during break-in (lotsa highway time but not at constant speed), dropping to about 18mpg as I began to push it a bit more often and for longer periods of time. After break-in it dropped to around 15-16mpg for a bit and is back to about 18mpg with nearly 2500mi on the clock. These are numbers computed at the pump from the trip odo and gallons pumped to full, usually about 16gal. Haven't taken it over 120mph though but up to redline plenty of times.

FWIW, Pete

For kicks, on my non Infiniti car, I wanted to see how accurate the mpg computer was, so I filled up, punched the reset, and the trip odometer. Upon next fill-up, I did the above formula, and compared it to what the computer showed. No joke, the computer was accurate right down to the tenth. So the computer is really using what fuel was consumed vs. distance traveled and showing an accurate number...

Filled up about an hour ago and calculated 17.35mpg (fuel was given at the pump as five significant digits) with the car displaying, oddly enough, 17.4mpg - gotta figure the fuel consumption in a FI engine is pretty easy to measure since it's being metered to run the thing. Or it could just be way past my bedtime....

Could you tell me how much you're averaging per tank Garnet?
I've recently noticed a change but I thought it was because I switched to 94 Octane rather than 91. This extended the kms in the 500's

Thanks

The last few tanks I have been averaging about 620-630 KMs.

Actually, that is in English according to pretty much every country except the US.

But the translation for you guys that are still on the archaic standard system, that is about 391 miles.

From this point on the computer must lean out the motor to get better gas mileage. Has anyone else noticed this?
Uh...no. Last fill up I had averaged 13.6 mph. Of course, I drive about 98% city, very little highway. And my car has 306 HP (309 sometimes!)
