The dealer can do it. I think they quoted me 795 when I inquired about it a couple months ago.

From my experience with dealer add ons, it's best to buy the car and then go to the service department. Buying through the sales/finance department costs more because they have to pay commission. Example: 2005 Odyssey--quoted $75 for wheel locks! Service department put 'em on for $25.

I got remote start installed on my G35x from the dealer. Two clicks of the lock button and it starts. Hop in the car, push the ignition button twice and then the brake pedal and you're all set.

I've had a Viper 791xv installed on my Supra and '03 G35 and that was a lot better in terms of range. I pretty much have to be within 20 feet for my '07 G35x remote start to work. Oh well, no extra key fobs to carry around is nice.

i remember from a while back that someone (possibly you) had the remote start installed, but when it was used, the person got in the car, stepped on the brake, the car then shut off, and you had to start it as usual. are you saying that after it is started, the sequence is to get in your car, press the button twice, then press the brake and the engine never dies?

^^ Thats a question I'd like an answer to... I have the remote start installed on my wife's 07 and it kills the engine when she or I get in and press on the brakes.

this is what happens with my maxima if i push the brake in before putting the key in the ignition so I would imagine the ignition button has to be pressed at some point before pushing the brake in

I had the dealer install on my '07 G35 and a month later I had it taken out.

The way this one worked was I would press the Lock button on the key fob 3 times and the car would start. The problem was that there was no security with it. Once it was started someone could jump in the car and drive away.

Before I had it installed someone at the service dept told me over the phone that once you stepped on the brake the engine would turn off. When I picked up the car that wasn't the case. I was able to get in the car put in drive a fly off.

Another thing was if the car was off and someone got in and pressed lock 3 times on the door that car would start, so you didn't need the remote just get in press lock 3 times and drive off.

The dealer told me they were coming out with some sort of box that would make the engine turn off once you stepped on the brake but after a month they didn't have it yet and I told them to take it out and I got my money back.

Weird, mine shuts off as soon as I get in and press on the brake period, no possible way of driving off without having the KEYFOB present.

my dealer said that they had to put another key in the dashboard to allow it to be started remotely

if coolie's works as he describes AND allows security to be armed, it seems like his would be the one to go with... from the dealer at least. i'd rather one from the dealer as i'd hate to need a second fob from aftermarket.

the M's do it too... it's a safety mechanism so no one can steal the car from you
