Safety first...

All good information except for which battery terminal to remove. For safety, first remove the negative (-) terminal on a negative ground car.

If removing the positive (+) terminal first and the wrench touches the bodywork metal you could have an explosion or burn injury.

Sucks to hear that, but glad you listened to your own advice.

This makes me wonder if I can steal someone else's G by doing the same thing: somehow get under the hood, disconnect the battery terminal, reconnect it, and hope that the computer will sync up with my key fob.

agreed. yet another reason to use a rubber-grip wrench. but better to use proper form regardless.

Next time tho, disconnect the negative terminal instead of the positive: Less chance of sparks or explosion...

I did unhook the negative.. I had a senior moment when I posted. The positive terminal has a big block of plastic that makes it difficult to get to. My apologies for the confusion.

Excellent tip Colin , Thanks. (probably seen a few cases when it was done the wrong way when you were a Fireman)
