Chrome-dip?

Changing the subject slightly - can the grill be chrome dipped? I know you can do that with wheels, but don't know how hot the solution gets. With a plastic grill, would you end up with a melt?

Sadly, you can't chrome plastic.

Changing the subject slightly, I think the G would look great with a grill painted to match the car

Sadly nobody makes a black grill that looks exactly like our chrome one. If they did they would sell thousands. There is a plastic injection company here in Vegas that would do it, only for an order of I believe 500 minimum.

I love the way that grill looks! I'm sure it would look SICK on a black car without the infiniti emblem.

How was that grille in "Autiophile"s post done. Is that one aftermarket or did they take it to a good body shop? That grille looks awesome.

That's the stock grill, with the emblem removed and then painted. I did it on the spur of the moment, I was doing the headlights and noticed the chips in the grill and figured what did I have to lose? So I removed it from the bumper that was already off the car, popped the emblem out and painted it. It was held in with five 10mm nuts, between taking it off prep and paint it added maybe a half hour to the project. In all I am glad I did it, no chips and in the event it did chip in a half hour I could have it out, prepped, painted and going back in, which is less time then it would take me to go the dealership to have them look at it. I did both the headlights and the grill with rattle can paint, SEM trim black is the best rattle can paint in the world and I will swear to that, it makes ANYONE look like a good painter. Great coverage, works better with out primer and dries the same color as factory trim pieces.
