I want to replace the chrome factory one. I hear they are cheap and chip real easy anyways. I have looked for a black one but have not had any luck. I want one that looks factory, not aftermarket and ricey.

There are no aftermarket grille's for the 07 yet. You can paint your stock grille yourself. Sand off all that crappy factory finish, wipe the whole thing down with a cleaning solution. Put a couple couats of primer on it, paint it and clear it..

Yeah, if I wanted to go black I would paint it myself.

Drive another 5,000 miles and the POS will be black anyways!

hahahah.. yea that is true.. i washed my car the other day.. and i was really surprised how fast its going... well anyways..

in a couple weeks i am sending my car to paint the front grill.. i might be doing the black roof too.. wehn i do.. i will post pictures.. i did my headlight already =)

painting front grill from a paint shop = 100-150$.. doing yourself.. $50 and some long hours....+ you might screw up and have dust or specs or what nots.. but yea...

have you all been complaining to infiniti HQ?
maybe they'll use metal to replace in the future.

how come the old model grilles don't do this?

I took my 2007 G35s in for it's first service today. Got the wind noise/air leak around the rear passenger door fixed, they would not pre-order the wiring harness to fix the seat heater (so I have to go back). But I mad a point of telling the service rep I thought the grill was sub-standard quality, and the cruise control surges going down hill. Hopefully if everyone with these problems lets the dealer know Corporate will work on a fix.

I made a black grill, it was easy and doesn't chip and even if it did I could repaint it quicker then I could get to the dealership to have them look at it.

I don't know if I would want to paint it myself or have anyone do it. I would be in the same position I am now. I would be delicate. No aftermarket paint is as good as OEM, I been through that too many times. Just a solid black plastic grill would be nice. Like the euro grilles on the audis.

The reason the grille is made out of plastic is for pedestrian safety. Even Bentley with their Conti GT and Flying Spur uses plastic for their grille inserts. They look like wire mesh but they're made of plastic for the aforementioned reason.

There is plenty of aftermarket paint that is better than OEM, especially Infiniti Paint. You can always have a shop paint it Obsidian Black (Infiniti black)

Got any pictures? If Infiniti doesn't fix the grill I was thinking of spraying the stocker black with the chromed Mt. Fuji in the center. But I have no photoshop skills and was unsure how this might look.
