Dead Battery Again

Man, this is the second time this has happened. I was detailing a customer's car in my garage today and while I was doing that I was listening to an album I had burned on the MB in my G. The album only had 13 tracks and when it got to track 11 the music stopped playing. I went over to my car to find out why it stopped playing and it had "Please Wait" on the LCD. I thought that was kinda odd. Anyways, it turned out that it was because my battery was just about dead. It didn't even have enough juice to start. The music was playing for probably no longer than about 45 minutes. This internal hard drive sure sucks the life out of the battery in a hurry.

Anyways, I just wanted to share to give you guys a heads up.

Wow, that's really weird - a HD should only draw about 18 watts. I had the same thing happen to me, but it took multiple hours. EDIT>> That's HD for Hard Drive - the head unit undoubtedly draws a lot of watts.

Wondering if you should get your battery / charging system checked?

Or get the battery checked out... or maybe a short somewhere...
Doesn't sound right to me.
'course, if you're cranking the radio it's going to be more than 18watts to drive the speakers.

Yeah, I had the SOW cranked (two bars down from max). I'll have it checked out though.

The screen definitely sucks more juice than the HD, but I have nothing of substance to add to this thread =-)

Happened to me 3 times already....the battery and crank power in our infiniti's are disgusting.....our 330ci bmw (2002) cranks like a fighterplane starting up....the G35 brand NEW had a weak crank...yet another cut corner from infiniti.....i will be looking to upgrade the battery soon..

If it turns out to be just the battery, I would be thankful and just do the upgrade.

I find this interesting because since I got the car I have been using it during the 45 minutes that I wait in line for school to get out. All but about 5 minutes of that has been spent with the car on accessory and the CD player ripping CD's onto the music box WHILE playing either the music box or the radio. Not once has it given me any sort of even slight indication that there was anything close to running out of power. I will be VERY curious to know if this is a battery issue or if there is something going on with the wiring in the cars that have experienced this problem.

Garnet C- please let me know what you find out. I'm very curious because my battery died and I still don't have ANY clue what caused it. I'm sure I didn't leave anything on and it hasn't died since. I hope this isn't some sort of defective battery type of issue. I since purchased a portable battery charger/jump starter that is sitting in my trunk just in case.

Mine died once overnight... no lights left on or anything. I just came out one morning and it was dead.

Everything was fine after a jump and has been since, but it still freaks me out and I'm thinking of swapping the battery for a new one just in case.

I've had a few long nights of SOW Nirvana and ripping CDs - maybe an hour+, or so ... no problems.
Were the headlights on? Anything else draining the battery?
It just seems so strong on start up and basically everything else, I find it hard to believe the battery is the culprit...

Nope, nothing else was on......just the SOW cranked up loud is all. It's a holiday here today, but I plan on getting my battery tested tomorrow.

Doesn't the dealership know who you are? I thought that Garnet Canuck would appear on some kind of Infiniti VIP list that gets you an immediate car replacement on any warranty issue.
