Hey Hikos,

You know what, I got busy at the time and never got around to taking it into the dealer. Thanks for the reminder though, because I am taking it into the dealer for service next week and will get them to check it out.

That's strange that yours died out of the blue........at least mine was related to having the stereo on. Are you taking it to the dealer to get it checked out?

Please let us know if your dealer finds anything unusual with your battery dying. I didn't have anything running and nothing was left accidentally left on in my car. Was driving it all week, in fact, up until the night before without any probelms or indications that it was weak. Then when I got into the car to go to work the next morning-nada.

I was debating whether I should go to the dealership and have it checked/replaced under warranty or if I should just get a DieHard out of my own pocket, since I've gone thru several OEM batteries on previous cars that were replaced, albeit for free, but took up too much of my time to keep bringing it back to the dealership. OEM batteries tend to suck when it comes to longevity and I've had nothing but good lifespans with Diehard batteries(plus they have a great 4 year replacement warranty if it ever dies).

I will keep you posted as well with which route I go on this. Hopefully its not a common problem with the new G's. Too many little electro-gizmos in the car, perhaps...?

Whenever I wash my car I always leave the stereo on and turned up pretty loud and whenever I take more than an hour, the stereo shuts off by itself. The first time it happened I thought I killed the battery, but when I got in to start it, it fired up no problem. I've done this at least 4 times with no problems. I always thought it was a safety thing since the key doesn't need to be pysically in the car maybe an engineer figured that someone might forget the car was on and this was a safety to prevent someone from walking away and forgetting that the cars was still on.

Hmmm... Thanks for sharing that cnugs. It's interesting that there's a safety cut-off. Thats good to know, since that confirms that I couldn't have possibly left something on accidentally and drained it with lights/stereo/aux.

Just dropped in the Diehard Gold today so we'll see if the problem persists. If it kills a DH Gold, something is seriously wrong with the electrical system.
