Many dealers use pressure washers to wash cars. This could be their "brushless" car wash. This is definitely not good for your paint (especially long-term) and could also expand the chips in the grill if your G35 has them.

Thanks! It's quite fun transforming the condition of a car's paint and the look on the customer's face when they pick their car up is priceless!

I too was at Ray Catena last weekend but we were test driving the G35 Sport (haven't made up a decision yet).

The salesman mentioned the free washing thing.

"Free car wash for life, essentially. You don't even need to set up an appointment"

It seems like they do do a good job. But I still don't trust them. Perhaps when it is far too cold to wash during the winter, then I'll take it for a touchless car wash

They had a brand new FX45 black on delivery when I was there and the thing seemed swirl less.

I don't know anything about your dealer .... but I would think that in general dealers would have 2 sets of ppl to wash and detail the car .....

The "good/more experienced" guys for new vehicle prep work ..... they would probably have more time and would be careful not to swirl it etc (otherwise you run the risk of the customer refusing delivery)

The freebie car washes are probably done with much less attention to detail and probably by less experienced guys. (= less careful, kids etc) ..... again maybe Infiniti dealers do good work - I don't know that - this is just what I think !

I let the dealer do the free wash thing on my car when they put the plates on it. I just wanted to see what kind of job they would do. I would say the quality was marginal compared to the care I take when I do it myself. I guess thats the difference between washing a car and detailing a car. I did get a free leather shammy out of the deal, since they left one in my back seat.

My 16 year old son got a summer job at the local car wash. So now I get a free wash any time I want. I just pull in and tell him to turn on a bay. I use the spot free setting (low pressure) to rinse my car. Then I use my own soap and bucket and do my regular routine. I just use their soft water and vacums.

The dealer will not wash my car again, they will never do as good a job as me. This is understandable, since it's not their car.
