I have had my 07 G35 S for a few weeks now, and wanted to get everyone's opinion on a steering wheel cover. I do not want to cheapen the steering wheel, but I want to keep it nice and protected. Thoughts?

 

Since you asked - Protected from what exactly?? Don't be silly, of course it will cheapen. But than again, that's one opinion

 

Leave it (IMO). It's the Best stock steering wheel I have ever laid hands on.

 

It just seems to me that steering wheels always take a beating and wind up with a lot of dirt and gunk on them

 

2 options:

1. Wash your hands
2. Think of the wheel as a wear item. Clean and condition it when necessary, and replace it when it gets too worn.

 

I wouldn't do it - like someone else said, use leather cleaner on it when you do your seats, ditto for conditioner, and it'll be fine.

Note that I'm taking your comments as for a full-time cover; if you're talking windshield / wheel cover for when you park your car outside, go ahead.

 

i wont cover this wheel. This is one of the nicest fitting and feeling steering wheels i have ever touched and held. Get some meguiars leather wipes and wipe it down about every third day, and the wheel will always look and feel like new.

 

I completely agree, it's definitely the nicest steering wheel I've had. The steering wheel on the Sport is quite beefy and I just love the white stitching........there is NO WAY that I would cover it up. Anytime that I condition my leather with Zaino Z10 I do my steering wheel as well.

 

Thank you all for your comments. I am in agreement that the steering wheel is awesome. That is why I have not covered it yet. Perhaps the leather cleaning/conditioning will work. I have not had experience with a leather steering wheel like this. Any more suggestions on cleaning products would be appreciated.

 

Too bad this isn't 1985. I would've suggested driving gloves.

 

i have a pair lol. perforated leather and fingerless.

 

Those would go perfectly with my buttless leather chaps...

Extra doses on the seat if you're wearing the chaps.
