how will fuel get into the oil if you let the car warm up longer?

i'm not debating you, i honestly just haven't heard this before. thanks.

fuel is more likely to get into the oil when the car is cold, afaik. that was my comment about blow-by. once up to operating temp, i don't see why this would happen.

are you suggesting that excessive idling would cause this due to low cylinder pressures?

ok, i'll summarize: press on the brake pedal and wait, when you are in high idle mode. the ECU will lower the RPMs quickly (within a few seconds) because it's anticipating you shifting into gear. this is the first car i've had that does this, and i think it's a very smart feature. kudos to infiniti!
Well, if I was in a big rush to get somewhere, this might be a good thing to do... However.... Not sure what it is (since many, if not most, other cars don't behave this way), but there must be a valid reason for Infiniti to want to have the engine rev quite high when it first starts. While the "workaround" that you mention of pressing the brake pedal may work, the question is: does it defeat the reason why Infiniti wants the engine to rev high, and the workaround only has the effect of lowering the RPM for safety reasons? In other words, is the car better off doing the workaround, or is it better just to wait until the RPMs go down, as recommended in the Infinit manual??
