Is the 2007 G35 tinted at the factory?

I am considering getting my windows tinted. However, to me it looks as if the windows already have a slight tint to them.

Is there any tint already on the windows when the G comes from the factory?

If so, what is the %?

I'm just trying to figure out how dark I can legally go.

i heard somewhere that most auto glass is already tinted to a very, very light tint, somewhere around 70% (at least thats what the cop told me when he pulled me over! lol)

that would be considered standard tint - but to determine what is legal you would need to verify what your state's policy on tinted windows is... for us here in new york, NO tint is legal... even the smoked look of 50% is considered illegal... if anything less than 70% of light passes through your window they can slap you with a ticket

the glass in almost all new cars uses the "green-tinted" UV blocking glass, but it is not a tint in the aftermaket sense of the word. IE it is not a sheet of plastic laying on the glass. It is part of the glass treatment process and it's permanent (can't be removed).

Two words: light sensitivity. Get a doctor's note (or anyone who you regularly drive) and you can apply for a special permit from the state that will exempt you from the lame 70% rule. Or live dangerously. I've got 35%, and no permit (although my wife--who does suffer from migraines--is going to get the LS note from her doctor).

INTRIGUING! So let's say I go to my doc and complain of light sensitivity. Will he/she have no choice but to write me a note? And do I just bring that bad boy to the DMV or something?

yea pretty much... next time a pig tries to stop you for tints just whip out the note and drive off (assuming he hasn't ALSO pulled you over for speeding in your G! )

I'm always had 20% tints on my cars but now in my lakeshore slate with wheat interior, i went with 35% and it has a real luxurious "smoked" look... you can tell there are people in the car, but you can't quite tell who they are... in my opinion, they're much better this way, i can't tell you how many 20-something year old recent-nypd grads cruising in their po-po mobile just itching to pull somebody over for the smalled thing and they pull up next to me at a red light, look right at me, and don't even bother me...... PHEW! thank god!! haha

While Johnny Law might let you go with your doctor's note (which should be easy to obtain from any doctor), technically in NY you need to take that note, go to the DMV and get a special tint permit. They give you a sticker that you put on your window (I would tape it to a piece of cardboard and wedge it in the slot behind the rear window.

I had 20% rear 3 windows and 35% Front two and only got one ticket in over 3 years.(btw that cop was looking for tints). Its was worth the 3+ years I had the tint.

BTW does anyone know a good tint shop in Brooklyn or Long Island? thanks.
