CF Microdrives?

Do Microdrives work? I only ask because www.woot.com has a killer deal on 4GB Microdrives right now.

Yeah, but these are 2 4GB microdrives for $20. They're slow compared to solid state but for mp3s in the car...

If one breaks, use the other one.

Yes, I bought them from Woot at 3am last night. I figured, oh, what the hell. If they don't work, then I can just use them as storage or baseballs. I currently have two 2GB CF cards (Sandisk Ultra II, $40ea from Outpost). These 4 giggers will be more convenient. Don't know how performance is affected, though (slower track seeking?).

I just bought a G35 today, YAY. Waiting for woot to get back up. I hope there's enough power in the CF expansion slot to power a microdrive. Either way, I'm sure ebay could yield a dividend on this in the event they don't work!

Have you used regular CF cards yet? If so, do you notice any difference between the speeds? I.e., searching/playing the next random track, etc.

I do have a regular (266x speed) CF Card, but didn't notice any difference.

What I'm curious about is (since microdrive is a hard drive with bunch of moving parts,) if it's durable or not.

I'll update it if it ever crashes.......
