Question about Bluetooth
Question about Bluetooth
I have a Samsung SGH-C417 phone, which is not on the list of phones that the G's Bluetooth system officially recognizes. However, when I first got the car, the salesman was able to pair my phone with the car.
Since then, I've found that every time I start up the car, the phone won't automatically connect to the car's Bluetooth interface. There is always a question on my phone's screen asking me if I want to connect to the car. Then I would have to press Yes before the link would be established. No big deal, but it is just annoying, and sometimes I would forget to press the button and drive off, only to discover later when a call comes in that the Bluetooth connection hadn't been made.
Is there anything I can do to avoid having to do this every time I drive, besides just changing to one of the phones that are officially recognized?

My previous experience is that this is a limiter in the phone - have you checked through settings to see if there's an "ask before pairing" setting? That would be my guess, especially if this is the first bluetooth interface you've used with it.
I can't find anything in the Settings menu on my phone to disable the "ask before pairing". However, I think you're right that this is probably a phone issue. Maybe I'll swing by the local Cingular store and ask if those guys know a fix for this.
I think it depends on the device... most of the phones I've used have an option to not prompt for the connection, or to make the car "trusted" so that you won't be prompted again.
I think it's entirely on which phone you use though... if you don't see anything on the phone options, you might be out of luck. There's nothing you can change on the car to change this (it tries to connect as soon as it detects the phone is in range).

I only see the "ask before pairing" question when I first pair the phone to a device. You might try to unpair the phone from the car and then pair again to see if it asks. (I have an LG8300 thru Verizon so obviously your setup will be different).

I've re-paired the phone, and now everything works like a charm! The phone pairs up without any question every time I start the car.
Laura, you rock! Thanks again.
