Our G35s just as fast as the new G37

Just got the latest issue of Car and Driver. Even with 330 horses, the new G37 coupe performs almost as well as our G sedans.

"The extra power doesn't make much of a difference at the test tack. The 0-to-60 sprint of 5.2 seconds is 0.2 seconds quicker than that of the G35 we compared with a BMW 328i, but 0.1 second slower than the first '07 G35 we tested in October 2006. By the quarter-mile mark, the G37 is dead even with that October G35: 13.9 seconds at 103mph."

The G37 is 100lbs heavier than our sedan sibling. It's also 4in shorter in length, 2in wider, and 2.5in lower.

G35 sedan FTW!

It's not uncommon for a sedan to be as fast as a coupe. According to Motor Week, the BMW 335 sedan is faster than the 335 coupe. But anyways... both cars are absolutely amazing and awesome (woot for illiteration)!

The reviews i've read the G37 is closer to 200lbs heavier! That kind of soaks up the hp difference and evens out the two cars.

The back seat, needlessly to say, is very cramped (4in less in legroom). But even worse, the front seats have very little head room. The review said even sub-6ft drivers might have their hair rub the roof, especially for those of you with puffy hair. With the sunroof, it's an inch or so lower than our sedans. If you have an afro or spikey hair, don't even think about it.

Wow that's great for those of us with the sedan, but not so great for Infiniti. How did they make the new coupe heavier than the sedan?

i was thinking the same thing. If not...for a couple hundred dollars, a simple plenum or plenum spacer will definitely keep you in the ball park.

Huh - I don't know that much about plenum spacers, but from the brief research a few months ago I thought they mainly help with FI motors?

For what it's worth, I think the Sedan (especially Sport) looks considerably better. Has an elegant yet aggressiveness to it that the Coupe is missing.

I always thought the first gen Coupe looked considerably better than the sedan, which was partially rectified by the 05 changes, but even then it wasn't as sharp as the Coupe. I think they knocked it out with the new Sedan, but the Coupe just doesn't quite do it for me. Also, the BMW 335i Coupe is considerably better looking than the G37, however, the G35S is in my opinion is much better looking than the BMW 335i sedan.

Similarly equipped, the sedan is $2k cheaper, weighs less, and is as fast if not slightly faster. C/D, MT, and R&T have all tested it and have 5.3-5.4 seconds to 60 and 13.8-14.0 1/4s, nearly identical to every Sedan test.

Test weight differences between the Sedan and Coupe per Motor Trend was 160lbs. To me, that's a big whoops on Infiniti's parts and was a leading reason I went and bought the sedan, as I was tracking the Coupe carefully, but like I said, the Sedan has something about it's exterior design that has a sporty elegance that is rarely produced.
