PSI for tires?
PSI for tires?
Okay, mabye a stupid question - but when I got my car back from the 7500 mile check-up, I think they must have put some more air in the tires because now I'm feeling every bump in the road. I remember a thread about lowering the PSI in the tires a bit to avoid this. What are suggestions for optimal PSI?
Thanks

Yeah, they keep putting mine at 35f/r. The Bridgestones seem very sensative to psi. At 33 they are perfect, at 35 you feel the bumps in the road and the rear feels like it's going to break loose on rough pavement.

The real lesson here is that we ALL need to check our tires once we get our cars back home. You can't trust anyone these days.
After my last tire rotation, I went 2000 miles before I checked it, and all were at 41psi (supposed to be 30). After I reduced it, gas mileage dropped about 1-2 mpg.

make sure you are checking the pressure when tires are absolutely cold.... even a few miles driven can cause the tires to be warm enuf to mislead you. If i recall correctly, its 2 psi increase for every 10 degrees change in tire temprature.
I had my G in the shop about a week ago for it's 1st oil change. After reading this thread I went out and checked my tire pressure with a digital gauge. Sure enough, 36psi in all tires except the front left was at 30psi. Now that I think about it the car was pulling left a little.
I guess the tech had to take a smoke break while he was over inflating my tires.
I had them set to 31F/33R before the service, I guess I will be stopping at the station on my way to work tomorrow.
