Very slooooowwwwwwly with with my thumb and index finger to each side of the metal strip.

Nah. I'm a pistol grip kind of guy so I grab my shifter with my thumb on top, not with my palm over the metal strip. If I burn my hand on anything it's the metal trim piece that connects the **** to the boot. Sucker sometimes catches my pinky finger. Fak.

It's a problem I chose not to have.

Fingers tips, just use the fingertips, and don't touch the metal part.

I'm thinking this will get replaced soon. Houston is very hot.

Simple, don't touch the metal piece. Or shift faster.

trust me this works, first i recomend a few shots of your choice of alcohol, then get in your car on the hottest of days, and yes grab the shifter, and hold for about ten to twenty seconds. sure this will brand you and scar you for life, i dont call it that i call it my "G" badge of honor. The best thing is i have perfect grooves in my hand now for a perfect shiftknob fit!!

It's not very hard to avoid the metal part. This shifter is actually better than the last G35 and 350Z's (bigger metal piece).

its not just the metal part on top of the shifter, its the metal at the base of the shifter and the little metal strip on top of the turn indicator and wipers.

Why put a metalic peice on those I have no clue but those get fricken hot too.
