When I was leaving the "ever delicious Taco Bell" I wasn't paying attention and turned too sharp and scraped the hell out of my rims. 1100 miles on the car. They were scraped up bad, bad, bad. Anyone interested in selling me an 18" or have any ideas on replacement or repair?

And don't worry, did the same thing with just a few more miles

First, I've been told that PPG etc. won't sell hyper-silver paint here in the US, so there's really no place that can do a good repair. Reportedly the paint will look different, and/or come off quickly. The wheel place fixed mine by polishing the lips down, which actually looked kinda cool - but was def noticeable.
If you want new wheels, try this:
- Long story short, by monitoring eBay
- watching a wheel and tire set continue to go down in price,
- then calling them to offer $1,100 (brand-new wheels and tires)
- selling the other three wheels I didn't need
I ended up with four brand-new tires, with about $100 in savings. It took me a few months, but is possible. Good luck!!

I remember seeing tires (the brand name escapes me right now) with a highly pronounced rubber bumper strip molded into the sidewall of the tire. If the particular size is selected properly in relation to the rim, there would be little chance the rim itself would ever make contact with anything other than that tire's rubber.
Now - what was the name of it? If I recall correctly it was definitely not an American/European brand. Perhaps someone here knows which tire I am talking about?
