Cold Start Hesitation Solution

I had the problem that a few have mentioned. When starting the car in the morning, about 1/2 miles from leaving my house, the car would hesitate and lose power, but didn't stall. After another 1/2 mile or so, the hesitation would stop and all was well.

Today my dealer diagnosed the problem. A call into Infiniti was made and they asked if the oil had been changed lately. The answer was yes. Infiniti asked if they used 5w30 or 10w30. They used 10w30. That was the problem. The Infinito Tech said that the 10w30 was too heavy, thus clutches (somewhere) were hanging up until the oils warmed up. Said they had several calls about this. The Tech went on to say that one dealer had replaced about $20K in parts without success. Apparently many of the service guys don't realize that the new cars are 5w30.

clutches? wtf?

the AT uses its own fluid.

the MT clutch is a dry clutch.

wth are they talking about?

finally, did you actually do the oil change and notice that problem went away or are you just taking your tech's word for it?

Timing chain sprockets - a design or manufacturing flaw. They are working on a computer "work around" but that's not the real way to fix it. So says the uber tech direct from Japan who looked at my car.

Nobody at the Infiniti tech lines knows about this - they will waste as much of your time as you let them. 5 weeks for me, which is why I traded mine in for a different vehicle.

unless you have translated incorrectly from techspeak to english, i highly suggest you find a new tech that isn't inhaling fuel vapors.

Well, not the solution. As others have said they have a timing sprocket problem. No solution yet. Keep you posted.
