Sunroof

So I was driving home and I hit some bumps and I felt something hit my head and I turned back and didnt see anything. When I got home I saw part of my sunroof on the floor. The rubber things that go along the sides of it. Sorta looks like a paper fan. I put it back on but do I need to glue it and bring it back to the dealer?

Thanks

That is a common occurence on the 07s. Happens a lot. The Dealer just puts a bit of adhesive on it and away you go. That is what they did with mine. You can do it yourself.

That's what the dealer did for me too and my buddy's car but both of ours have come undone again. I need to bring it back again anyway cuz I need them to check out that infamous ticking noise coming from the engine.

There is a TSB on this (see FAQ thread that is stickied). Just pop the sunroof finisher back on and you'll be fine. This happened to me about 3-4 months ago and I just placed it back on with no adhesive.....it's been fine ever since.

The rubber finisher is just for looks.

The sunroof finisher on my G falls of pretty much every time I open my sunroof. I'm not concerned as I know the dealer can easily fix this little issue on my next visit or I can just buy an appropriate adhesive and do it myself. I knew about this from day one, it fell off during first test drive.

One of mine fell off, I took the other one off too and havent bothered reinstalling them. No leakage. I don't think they serve any purpose. The wife's pathfinder has a similar looking mechanism, it never had the rubber boots to begin with. Perhaps this was a misguided attempt by Nissan to add more "refinement".

Yeah, it happened to me also the first week I had the car, all 3 sunroof pieces one after another. The dealer said just throw them away; they serve no purpose other than "refinement."

No leaks. Now it just looks kind of industrial up there with all mechanisms bared.

Yup, 3! The two sides and the back. First the two side pieces and then yesterday the piece toward the rear.
