Glad to hear you found the handle on the inside of the trunk lid. It works great and eliminates all of the nasty finger prints.

Quote: It's an emergency release. If you ever find yourself trapped in the trunk with the door closed, you pull on the handle to OPEN the trunk from inside. It's not for closing the trunk.

That's why the handle has an icon of the trunk OPEN.

I don't know about you but I'm not planning to fall into the trunk any time soon. I can barely fit golf clubs back there. Me -- no way.
Perhaps you're confused by the description - there's a HANDLE inside for opening the trunk in case you're trapped. There's a HANDHOLD inside the trunk (upper right when the lid is open), for closing the trunk - it's like a hole you put your fingers into.

Yeah, it's kind of in a stupid place, and requires a sort of unnatural motion with your arm to close it. Kind of like curling the trunk towards your face. I never noticed it until Garnet mentioned it in a post. They really should have designed it so that the finger hole is horizontal (rather than vertical) to the ground when the trunk is open like nearly every other trunk.

Unless I'm using something different, it is horizontal to the ground. I don't have a "fingerhole" I don't think, but mine is basically a recessed portion that you can fit 4 fingers into easy.

i have the SAME ISSUE .. looks exactly like your picture.. mine is more obvious because my car is IP. . i thought it was my subs causing excessive vibration which caused the trunk to do that.. but I GUESS NOT! ...

hopefully they do something about it.. right now.. i have rubber weather strips that run along that line so that they don't touch..

Yikes! Just found this on mine too - and I always use the inside handhold, which I can now do so it doesn't latch hard. But maybe still too hard?

After seeing those pics, I just went out to my G and checked to see if mine has the same scratches. Thankfully, I don't have any at all.

Yep that's what I'm getting but not as long as yours. Mines mostly at the edges. I even use the handle on the inside the lid, but in the end I still have to push down on top of the lide sometimes to get it to lock. When I use the handle I still need to put force on it as well. My little beef with the handle is why didn't they make one on the left side, but only the right? I'm a lefty so that's why I'm complaining.

Well, I went out and checked mine after reading this thread. Phew, no problems on mine. Seems like an alignment issue that the dealer should definitely fix, and repaint those areas.

Quote: I was washing my car over the weekend only to find there's scratch marks and rust at the bottom of the end of trunk lid where it meets the bumper on the inside. From what I can tell, it is caused when the trunk is closed probably from having to push it down hard so it locks. I'm just curious if it's just my car or have others experienced this and do you think the dealer be willing to fix and repaint the scratched areas. Sorry I don't have a picture to post will try to get one up. This has been bothering me because I feel like I've been damaging my car all this time without even realizing it.
Hi. I have the same problem with the trunk. Did the dealer take care of this? I don't want rust either so for now I put clear nail polish over it to protect it from rust. Please let me know if they covered this. For such an expensive car you would think that this wouldn't happen.

Quote: I too noticed that it was hard to close the trunk when I first got the car. I ended up adjusting the stops on the bottom edge of the trunk lid, this made a big difference. You have to be careful that you don't go too far as you may end up with rattles. As for the scratches, I don't know what is causing those, I haven't seen them on my car.
How did you adjust the trunk lid? Did yo take out the two stops and turn them? Thanks
