Smell oil burning under hard acceleration?
Today at lunch I noticed something. I was accelerating hard in DS mode with the windows down and I noticed a smell of burning oil. This is the second time in recent weeks that I have noticed this smell while driving hard. Car has over 8000 miles, oil was changed about 800 miles ago, the level seems to be fine.
Anyone else notice anything like this? It's obviously troubling me. If this car starts burning oil, I will be pissed. I need to get someone behind me to see if the can see anything in the exhaust (if they can keep up with me!). Also need to look on the garage floor, see if I see any leaks.

It's entirely possible that when they changed the oil some got spilled and that's what you're smelling. Especially if you can smell it while driving.
Next time it happens, look around under your hood for smoke/spillage.

Take it in for oil consumption test. I had same thing start to happen on my 03 coupe. My trip to FL took its toll on the motor blew oil past the rings..She was smoking out the exhaust also..
driving "hard" as in a lot of acceleration, braking, and cornering? i wonder if they overfilled your oil? perhaps high g forces are throwing some oil where it shouldn't go?
check your dipstick to see if the oil level is too high.

definitely check for leaks, and if you cantd find any take firedawg's advice and do a consumption test.

I hate to tell you this but this is somewhat of a common thing. I used to smell oil periodically with my 2005 6MT coupe and I really smelled it with my 2006. The 2005 ran fine and had no problems. My 2006 was consuming oil like a **** and I had the engine replaced. I can still periodically smell it under hard acceleration also. You just get used to it after a while.

if ur driving at average speed u shouldnt smell oil at all but if ur like 40 to 50 over the speed limit and your rpm is hitting 7000 to 8000, you'll smell it for sure sure. it happened to me too

Lots of heavy acceleration can cause temps like that on the block I'm sure.
Well, this is definitely something I'm going to keep my eye one. I don't think it was from oil left over from the oil change, as it's been like 800 miles since then. I'm going to recheck the level and keep my eye on it. I had heard that the older VQ engines had some oil consumption problems. Maybe that's what I'm experiencing. If I notice consumption, I'll
def take it in to be tested.
(So far) I only seem to notice it doing full hard accels, especially in DS mode. I'm going to put some paper down in the garage and see if any spot appear. But, I guess with the plastic panel I wouldn't see them. I may need to get under there and take a look, but I have no ramps. Sigh... I hate nagging worries like this.

amsoil ASL has a flash point of 442F
that said, oil passages that are receiving constant flow are not going to reach flash point temps.
