Air Conditioner Problem??

The other day my air conditioner was barely blowing out my front vents even though it was set on the highest fan setting and the mode was set to front. This lasted for about 6 hours and then all of a sudden it just started working again with no changes by me. I had an appointment with Infiniti for this Monday, but I wanted some outside opinions before I let them start taking my dash apart to fix a problem that as of right now fixed itself.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Silly question for ya but just in case - were the airflow thumbwheel controls on the bottom of the vents opened all the way?

Yeah I checked them all. I Even closed the passenger side ones to see if I could direct more airflow from the drivers side, but still nothing.

Exactly! I hate when the car acts up, you bring it in for service and they don't experience the problem so nothing happens. They look at you as if you made the whole thing up. Like I want to waste my precious time to tell you about an imaginary problem. WTF?

Just checking, but you're *sure* it wasn't on automatic, right? Try turning it down to 60F?

Yeah, because I remember switching back and forth from auto to reg to see if that would make any difference. Either set set at 60 degrees wouldn't create more than a slight breeze from the vents; but it was sure making a lot of noise in the dash. Everything has been working for a few days now. Just seems strange that it would all of a sudden stop working and then start working again.

Similar Issue

I had a similar issue with a new Forester that we have. It turned out to be a solenoid that directed the airflow. It sounds like the fan is still running, so I assume the air is just not being directed to the vents. Was it coming out of the defroster or floor vents instead?
