ipod upgrade

You guys think there will be an option to upgrade or a conversion kit from infinity or someone where we can use the nav touchscreen to control the ipod like the g37?

sorry if repost, the search did not come up with anything in this section

I was told this last week, by a dealer, that the 08 ipod integration will be offered as kit for 07's sometime late this year or early next.

This would be great! There is an old thread in the tech section where a company was providing an aftermarket iPod integration kit for the G35. I believe they were using a kit officially intended for another Nissan or Infiniti car but also worked for the G35. They were based somewhere near the Philadelphia area. It would be great if Infiniti offered the kit themselves, so it would be more readily available, and you wouldn't have to worry about potential warranty issues.

wow, i wasn't sure what you guys were referring to about using the touchscreen. i was thinking to myself, "but our ipods/iphones ARE integrated" because they can run music through the system. i didn't realize you were talking about having all the song information come up through the nav screen and that it would actually be controllable there. i finally realized this after viewing the below thread about some guy who plugged his iphone into a new g37 coupe. i was totally surprised that a) the music appeared on the nav screen, and 2) that an iphone worked as such. awesome, i reeeeally wish this worked on our 07 g sedans! especially bc i have an iphone.

I can't understand how Inifiniti will let you use the touchscreen for your ipod, but disables NAV functions when moving. Should we assume that the ipod functionality will be disabled when driving as well?

I would say that controlling the Nav is much more complicated than working an iPod. All you really need in an ipod is scrolling, enter, and back..unlike in a Nav you need to be able to enter a full set of alphabet & numbers, possibly scroll down extensive lists to find cities/towns, etc.

Nonetheless, I'm sure they would still limit the iPod since you don't really need the touchscreen...the main 3 functions can already be controlled from the steering wheel.

I was very interested in that kit, except that steering wheel controls do not work on out 07's. Once I saw that, I just went the center console route.

I notice it comes as part of the premium package on the G37, but wondering whether the Bose is required in order to do the potential upgrade to the '07's. I would think not, because the HU's are the same in the bose/non-bose car, but I'm not willing to bet my life on it.

Yes, it would be great if Infiniti offered an iPod/iPhone interface for the 2007 G35! Definitely worth getting if they make it available!

Everyone interested in an iPod/iPhone interface for their G35 should let Infiniti know. Maybe with enough requests, they'll be more interested in making it an option for 2007 G35s. Not sure if this is the best place to send requests, but it's a start:
