i was testing out my nav today, and you can click on alternative routes or something like that, and like three routes will pop up, and you can pick the best one for you. I think one said shortest distance and one said shortest time

I like my Navi, but I'll also admit, I'm a gadget addict.

Yes, you could use MapQuest as others have stated, but the Nav doesn't shine when you have time to plan and then drive.

It shines when you're on "E" with little knowledge of the area and need a Gas Station quickly... when you need a fast route to a Hospital or Police Station... looking for an ATM... a new restaurant... that sort of thing.

Plus, I know how to get from A to B, but what if I'm now at B and want to get to C or D... the Navi is awesome.
Both my 07 G and my 06 Acura MDX have it.
I personally won't buy another car without it, and with the extra features that the G's Navi package offers, it's a no brainer for me.

has the greatest navi have ever tested. My parents have 07 MB and BMW s ......................it has stuff i ve never seen in any car, so please no more dissing G navi. It hurts to see such a system criticized for being better then ALL!!

I dont think even the TL or IS navi compares to the G. dude no other system you can get direction by inputting phone numbers. how cool is that?lol.............admit it thats hot! I have seen and driven in TL navi, ML350, x5, C280, seen the IS. None can come close to the G in features nd ease of use. TL was the second most friendly.

PS i am talking aout the 07 navi, cant speak on behalf of the older ones.

my dad drives an 07 E350 mercedes with navi, their interface on the navi is horrible, plus it isn't touch screen. I love my dad's MB, but i think i have more features in my G for 15k less. Only thing i'm jealous of is it has 9 inch wide rims in the back, and 8.5 inch wide in the front, but hopefully in a couple months i can get some Work 20x10's

wrong about the TL navi. it can search by phone number: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?14@@.ef24778/2

i've owned a TSX and and a 2006 TL. Both had navi. I can say without a doubt, the acura navi is superior to the 07 G. It is far more user friendly, has no speed lockouts, and the map itself is more google-like in appearance, making it MUCH easier to read.

the voice recognition isn't great with the windows down but that's true of the G as well. I never used the voice anyway- the GUI was so effective i could input destinations via several different methods much faster than i can on the G. the G does have a few advantages, namely the lane guidance and well, that's all i can think of.

i don't like that when you get an incoming call on teh G, you can't switch back to the map without stopping the car first. that's crazy. what if you're trying to call your friend while you're navigating to tell them when you're going to be there, and you miss a turn because you can't see the screen? i don't use voice feedback so that is entirely possible.

how do you find the "next turn" visually on the G navi? on the acura, you just hit the "map/guide" button to cycle back and forth between the direction list and map. it's much more convoluted on the G. the damn speed lockouts make the system so much *more* dangerous to use.

i could go on... but i know this will fall on deaf ears because most folks dont want to admit faults of their cars. but if you are willing to consider your vehicle's drawbacks with an open mind, think about these.

Thumbs up .................

sorry bro i wasnt bashing the TLs , just giving my opinion on what constitute a friendly navigation to me, and be honest TL navi wasnt as appealing or friendly to me , i am glad you like it, TLs are great cars, i was a TL fan before. But the G has turned me into a believer. I guess it all depends on what we individually expect and or require out of the vehicle. I like the birdview map, and nameless other things about the G nav.

+1 for taking a stand for the Acura

I would definitely get the Navigation again if I had to do it all over. It's very user-friendly, Voice activation is great and I prefer the integrated system.
The one problem I have though is the speed lockout function - you have to be stopped at a light or parked inorder to assess the full list of options! - I know they are thinking of safety but come on!!
Even with my dissatisfaction with the lockout feature, I still think it's worth it.

maybe there's something wrong with my car, but i can't switch back to the map by pressing the button while i'm still on the call.

no need to be rude about it.

a speed lockout means some abilities are disabled when the car is moving. supposedly this makes the car "safer". i think it just makes the lawyers happy in ways that i really don't want them to be. ick.

speed lockouts SUCK.
