Umm well Im no expert, and neither is anyone else here. . .but I do have an opinion. . . :-D

My take on the 3.5 sedan and 3.7 coupe is

Looking at prelim acceleration times for the coupe. . . its only slightly faster than the sedan and thats with the 3.7l

I think infiniti almost had to go with the 3.7l in the coupe. . .
otherwise. . . with a 3.5l it almost surely would have been slower. . .

putting the 3.7l in the sedan. . would then likely make the lighter sedan faster than the coupe. . defeating the initial goal of making a faster coupe. . .

or I could bt crazy . .. but just my thoughts

oh and factory TT on a g35. . .whooooh that would be scary. . .
the numbers would be thru the roof. . . ohhh its on my wish list. . .
i doubt it will happen. . .if so itd happen on the performance minded Z first

Im pretty positive Nissan/Infiniti will place the 3.7 in the G Sedan in 2009, along with the addition of a 6 or 7-Speed new automatic transmission, to beat the competition. With that being said, the Sedan will get the 330hp, and Im speculating they will up the coupe's horsepower to 350.

It is going to happen on the "Z" first, Nissan's just going to call it the GTR.

Nissan recently announced that the VQ37 will be making it's way into the current gen 350Z next year. That means the VQ35HR only lasted in the Z for a little more than a year. I imagine the G sedan will follow suit at the same time.

If I have to predict, it will happen soon may be 2009 or 2010 the latest. I don't see why they would produce two engine sizes for all most identically cars. It will happen because it is just cheaper to produce only one size that fits all.

I'd really like to see the new Z reach into the high 12's with the new motor

I'm confused - is the new G37 coupe heavier than that G35 sedan? I would have thought it would be lighter. It is somewhat surprising that the numbers for the new coupe aren't significantly better than the sedan.

If true, I wouldn't expect the G sedan to get the until a year later.

I would expect that the GTR will get a TT version of the 3.7L. According to rumors, the engine will deliver 450+ hp -- perhaps as high as 500hp.

+1 I would believe this - no need (from Nissan's perspective) to swap out the sedan motor for a year or two. And keeping the coupe's performance ahead of the sedan helps add to the coupe "aura".

Yup, my thoughts too. Infiniti has a packaging issue with the G coupe considering the weight problem. The coupe has to have more hp just to make up for the extra weight. Infiniti has to have something in the pipeline for the coupe if/when the G sedan gets the 330-hp 3.7L. And I wouldn't expect the coupe to get a bigger (or higher hp) engine for the 2009 MY. And that probably means 2010 for the sedan to get the 3.7L, likely with vastly improved 6 or 7 speed autos. My bet would be a higher hp version of the 3.7 for the coupe at the same time (350+).

Dude, you switched from a Cayman to a G? Guess between the two the handling is about the same, and the G has more HP?
