This sports sedan contradicts itself....

While driving in Auto mode, the tranny upshifts from 2-3 WAY too soon, only half a second after just shifting 1-2, then the 3-4 shift waits a while again. Then other times if I give it just 1/2 throttle it must think I'm racing and drops into 2nd and jumps from 40mph all the way to redline in about 3 seconds scaring the wife to the wall. Well, which is it!?!? Sport, or not sport? ARG.

All this while leaving it in full D, NOT DS or manumatic mode.

yea, the car gets some getting used to, I'm used to my 2001 TL, and then I drove my G35 i drive fairly jerky till about 30-40 mph for the first week, getting used to how little you need to press on the gas to get it to go..

You could use the paddles, and that way you always know what gear it will choose

Anyway, the auto should learn your driving habits, sounds like it will begin shifting early on all of your shifts pretty soon.

I miss the 'ol days when you could just predict the tranny. Now the tranny is trying to predict us, and that just doesn't work.

Push the gas pedal just a tad further right when it's about to shift and it just throws it's arms up in a fit and says "well how was I supposed to know you were going to do that?"

This is both brilliantly worded and a really funny personification of the G, and you're quite correct.

My own gripe is when you are slowly opening the throttle through about 50 mph, accelerating moderately, and you trip the line in the sand that the tranny draws between "strong acceleration" and "hyperspace". At that point it goes "OHGOD OHGOD OHGOD DOWNSHIFT AND GIVE HIM EVERYTHING NOWNOWNOWNOWNOWNOWNOW!!!!!"

Sandurz: Prepare for light speed.
Helmet: No, no, light speed is too slow.
Sandurz: Light speed too slow?
Helmet: Yes, we'll have to go right to...Ludicrous speed!
Sandurz: Ludicrous speed! Sir, we've never gone that fast before. I don't think the ship can take it.
Helmet: What's the matter, Colonel Sandurz...CHICKEN?!

Yeah I've also heard guys say it fits their driving style perfectly. . .that it feels like the tranny knows exactly what theyre trying to do. . . for me it took some getting used too. . .Now I feel I can get the car to do what I want when I want. . .

it is a auto. . .and I think they did a good job of trying to get the best of both worlds. . . no transmission can read minds. . .only read what you input

Want a transmission to do exactly as you wish there is a MT6 version of the car

Ugh . . . looks like you have the one I was looking for. . .I waited for a few months waiting for the perfect colors/options. . to get the MT6 and. . .it looks like you got it . . . .sigh. . .i settled for the Auto. . .which has its benefits. . .ill always be jealous of MT6 drivers though. .

its really not THAT bad...its not the greatest at all...but if im in traffic where i need to worry and slow down fast ill just throw it in paddle shift mode, if im just chillin its in D ...the car im sure is fun as a 6 spd and if i get a g37 next year i may get it in 6mt but for the sedan i enjoy the way the 5at is

LOL.

I have to leave the car in M mode when the wife is with me.
If we're on the highway and I give it a little gas while changing lanes, it turns into this warp speed, high revving, seat sinking moment and then she gets all pissed off at me for driving like a jerk.

The G is mine. It's never seen her garage door denting, curb hitting, step 19 insurance, airhead driving ways so she doesn't understand the characteristics of the G.... and never will.

I've thought about getting a neck collar for passengers!
