Gas pump issue

I'm having issues at the pump. Several times, when I'm gassing up, after about 6 gallons, the pump clicks and stops like the tank is full. But the tank isn't full at all. So I keep pulling the trigger on the pump and the pump clicks and stops again. This keeps happening and I'm unable to fill up a full tank. Has anyone else encountered this?

Sounds like the problem that happened on some of the first gen G35s. It was the shutter valve that prevented a person from filling the tank. It was fixed under a TSB. I have not heard of this happening on the 07s until now. Have the Dealer check it out.

Yeah. sometimes happens to me, at one particular Mobile station it happens all the time. I usually pull the nozzle out a bit, which only sometimes helps, or turn the nozzle upside down. Careful when you do that though as it won't shut off when it's full, and you can get gas splahing down the side of your car. Don't ask me how I know that.... :-(

Hopefully direct injection will cure that eventually on the VQ...

Yea, I had this problem when I first got my car too, but it's because I was parked at an incline or uneven surface. Now, I don't have that problem at all.

That is the problem I have had with my 03.5 sedan, even after the dealer replaced the tank and everything. It still occurs on occasion.

I didn't see ant TSB's for the 07 on thi issue though.

It's not our cars really. It's mostly the design of the gas pump nozzle. Try going to another gas pump station. The shorter the gas nozzle is, the less likely chance you will have problems.

Ya this has happened to me a few times as well. I agree with the above poster in that it may have something to do with the design of the gas pump as when I pull out and go to the station next door, it works fine.

This happened to me for the first time last night at a Mobil station. I have 4000 miles on my car now, so I've made a few gas station stops! I pulled the nozzle out a little at a time until it stopped doing it.

happened to me on my first two fillup's, I've only had to fill up the car three times though since this isn't my daily driver...

This just happened to me this weekend. I understand the issue above with pulling out the nozzle a little and it helps, although I have to say this car is better than my Q45. That thing was very sensitive with the pump.

This was different. I had a little less than 1/4 tank and proceeded to fill up. The pump clicked off at 6.5 gallons, I knew it wasn't right and tried all I could do to continue pumping to no avail. Turned the nozzle upside down, pulled it out slightly, pulled it out more yet. That was it, it was full and I couldn't get any more gas in.

I drove off with a little over half a tank on the gauge

I've had this happen with my 07 G35x about 5-6 times now and the car is only about 3 months old. I've never experienced it with any other car. Sometimes i'll keep trying it and it will go away, other times I just say forget it and decide to get gas at some other gas station. Either way its always funny getting looks from people because they think I'm topping off, but they really don't know I still have room for 15 gallons more in my tank.
