Fix for Overly Sensitive Accelerator

Just read the latest Popular Mechanics mag and in their 2 month write of the G35, they discussed the overly sensitive throttle. They stated they talked to Infiniti engineers about it and Infiniti brought Popular Mechanics an 08 model which had an updated ECM flash which apparently solved the problem. The mag editors stated the 08 had much better throttle tip in. So apparently this is a fixable issue with an ECM update. I guess we need to start bothering the service guys about when a TSB will be issued. I do not mind the throttle touchiness, but my wife is afraid to drive the car. LOL.

Forget about it, I like it the way it is.

I have driven both the IS350 which is like using a sergical knife to slice a fly. The G is like killing a fly with a shotgun. They both get the job done, It just depends on your taste. I would be up for a fix myself.

After having an `07 auto as a loaner for a week... the throttle drove me NUTS. Fortunately the 6sp cars do NOT have this bad trait.

If there were any reason for me to sell the car. THIS WOULD BE IT, and I've thought about it. Very irritating.

The 6spds have a weird throttle lag though, likely could be fixed by the same method.

the sensitivity of the throttle isn't that bad IMO. It's second nature to drive the G with no "snappiness"...however, whenever I drive my gf's v6 mustang or any car for that matter that isn't mine I tend to go really slow because my foot only presses a 1/4 of the throttle expecting it to go

I would be first in line for a fix. It drives my wife and I both nuts. Why the designers would make it so sensitive is beyond me. I mentioned it to the service writer last week when our 07 G35S car was in for service and he admitted that is was a common complaint. I have 2 07 GM cars and their throttle is so smooth. And why didn't they make the auto a 6 speed as other manufacturers are now doing. That would bring the gas mileage up also. my 07 corvette with a 400 HP engine gets almost 30 mpg on the highway. The G only 21 or so. The newly designed 08 CTS is looking better?

On the motorcycle world of sportsbikes, you can purchase a Power commander - an electronic fuel injection computer that smoothes out the powerband. Is there something similar for the G's?

If they have corrected this problem with the '08s, then I'm even happier that I ordered an '08 from the factory.

I don't get it. Last time I checked, people who bought sport sedans were buying them for their agility and performance. Why would anyone be bothered by a missile like response?

I love it! Nothing like stepping on that sucker and giving my passengers a whiplash.
