^^ According to the bulletin the only way to tell the difference between the old keys and the new ones is to look for a mark under the metal key.

thanks for the info. i have the old key (build date Feb 07). since the new fob does not come with the metal key, it doesnt make much sense to keep the old fobs.

I just made an appointment to have my keys replaced, unfortunately it isn't until September 25th. On the bright side at least I won't have to worry about this problem when I drive to Saskatoon at Christmas and the service rep on the phone also finally offered to do the heated seat fix!!

Funny, I had no trouble at all getting the seat heater fix. I just asked about it, mentioned the TSB and no issues. I can't say the fix made any difference since it's yet to be cold enough to test.

Hopefully the key campaign goes as smoothly...

Just got my set of new I-Keys and what an experience it was. After initially waiting about an hour and half the service guy comes up to me and says, I cant get the new key sequence to initialize and I cant get your old keys to work either so we will need to give you a loner until we can get this fixed.

I, of course pissed and disappointed, agreed (like I had any other choice). So off I went in my loner and literally 10 minutes later, I receive a phone call on my cell..."We got it! You can come back to the dealership." Sooo I make a U-Turn and to make a long story short, the entire process took a little over 2 hours but both keys seem to be working perfectly. The new keys are identical to the old keys (size, shape, color, etc.) except for that little circle on the back. Also the range on the keys seem to be just about the same as the old.

A little advice: I would hold off on getting the I-Keys for a couple months until these service techs have gotten some experience under their belt on the whole sequence process. Apparently the process is 24 pages long and very easy to screw up. They said my car was only the third set of new I-Keys they programmed.

Good advice, thank you.
I think I will wait a month or two before getting mine done.

I got my new key fobs today during my 15k service and a new grill, service was very good. Unfortunetly the service guy did a little bit of damage to the front bumper cover above the grill by the hood seal. Looks like he tried to use a screw driver to pop a rivet when he had the hood open and used the top of the bumper cover for leverage, Im pissed.

If it does have range problems, do this cool trick.

1. Hold the keyfob at your adams apple and make sure you and the top of the keyfob (side with Mt. Fuji) faces the car.
2. Press lock/unlock
3.

Or this way.

It's really weird, but I've done it from prolly 100+ feet away

this is very true...your body acts as an attena for the remote signal. Been doing this for years and alot of people always said it was BS till i proved them wrong!
