Porsches and VWs are the same as Infinitis, I'm kinda used to it so I'm glad it's this way. I tested a BMW and got it all backwards. I guess the logic is UP=UPSHIFT and DOWN=DOWNSHIFT. Mercedes (at least my bro's E550) shifts right and left....now that's messed up.

It's an automatic. Virtually all automatics in the world upshift by pushing forward and downshift by pulling back (I'm talking about the standard auto transmissions that were available before all of these wannabe sport-shift autos). I think this is completely intuitive - and this is coming from someone who drove a 3 manual transmission cars over 15 years before my most recent automatic car.

I've never confused the sloppy sportshift in my current autobox w/ a true manual and was never confused about which way I needed to pull on the lever to up or downshift.

My G35x is only the second automatic I have ever owned -- both have not been available with a manual. And yes I likely would have gotten the 6MT if I didn't get the AWD.

While I would rather have it pull back for an upshift, it only took a few drives for me to get used to pushing forward to shift up. Not a problem...

I had a mazda 6 rental a while back when my coupe was having the rear bumper fixed. It had the up for downshift down for upshift feature and I found it completly retarded. I guess it confused me because I had an automatic 05 maxima which was opposite of that. I really didnt like it, but after 3 days I got used to it.

Love my 6mt.

It should be as simple as switching two wires at the connector. At least I can confirm that Bimmer's are like that.

Pushing to downshift is better ergonomics because of the G-force under braking. That's why race cars are set up this way. There's nothing "up" about pushing the stick forward. Actually, you decent when you push forward the flight stick in a plane.

Yes, the car's forward momentum will push you back into your seat. So, logically, the weight transfers toward the rear of the car. Pulling backwards on the stick seems the logical choice for shifting upwards. However, how necessary is this to be so? It's not like the G is pulling excessive "g's" during sprited acceleration. Tap the shifter forward with the back of your hand to shift up, pull it back to shift down...unless -that is- you're pulling too many g's and can't grasp the gearshift. This is a luxury sports sedan, not an F1 race car. LOL I guess it doesn't bother me one way or the other since I have the paddle shifters.

Thats why I have the paddle shifters...Infiniti could've set up the shifter to turn it clockwise and counterclock wise to shift for all I care.

Vibrating shifters - girlfriend likes
Sqeaking clutch pedals - had that fixed, not a big deal
Odd clutch engagement - after 15 minutes of driving - not so odd anymore

this is like asking someone to play a first person shooter like halo to see if he likes the sticks inverted or not. i'm the type of person that just wants to drive the car and is happy with what i have. throttle isn't sensitive for me and this surely isn't a big deal either

True, but any decent sports car (sports sedans included) with proper tires in the dry can pull 1G under threshold braking.
