MotorTrend G35S long term update

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...nfiniti_g35_s/

Like a wild bronco, the G35 S continues to be jumpy on takeoff, prompting editors to note the aggressive tip-in. "Throttle gets touchy at times," observes one. Another says, "The throttle is kind of herky-jerky at the start." Truck Trend's art director Thomas Voehringer went so far as to note, "Tip-in is way too aggressive-in a lipstick-smearing, coffee-spilling, poking-your-eye-out-with-the-mascara sort of way."

Otherwise, there's little to criticize and much to praise on the G35, evidenced by the growing appreciation for the lionhearted engine, the smart paddle shifters, and the sensibly arrayed interior that's bursting with buttons yet friendly to use.

Online editor Mike Floyd, on the ergonomics: "Every control is easy to deal with and operate without having to hunt and peck. There are cool features galore, all intuitive."

Why is "Thomas Voehringer" putting on lipstick and mascara, anyway? How can we trust the opinion of this guy??

I don't care about Thomas Voehringer. I want to know why Ladies are putting on makeup in the car instead of at home. Such a petpeeve of mine.

Isn't the answer to both of your questions that our boy Thomas is driving, while the female of the species is putting on makeup in the passenger seat?

Unless he's riding, and just whining

Uh... my post was an attempt at humor, apparently unsuccessful.

Actually I did think it was pretty funny. Voehringer doesn't proofread or his childhood secret just slipped out. I think I would have rewritten that.

I'm sure it has something to do with the way those morons over at M/T drive. Otherwise they would have learned that it's most likely their fat feet that's responsible for a "jumpy and jerky car off the line." 18 mpg is an indication of this. Either that or the car never leaves the city. Yes the throttle tip in is aggressive but FFS, adapt your driving style to the car or go home.

I guess a few of use here were not the only one with this (personal)issue.

a recently locked thread about it here:

I'm currently driving a BS G35x until Monday. The "on-off" throttle response has taken me a little getting used to. Nothing a day's worth of driving couldn't solve. Funny, when I test drove the G37, I didn't notice the same "jumpy" acceleration.

for the sensitive throttle, try driving without shoes. you'll have more feel in your toes to control the throttle.

My G35S felt jerky off the line sometimes. Once I got used to driving it and the car broke in, I have had no problems and find it smooth as silk.

The jerky throttle can be mostly compensated for by moving your foot slightly towards the top of the go pedal. I tend to drive with the side of my right foot and that does provide that on/off sensation with the throttle. By moving your contact point with the pedal up ever so slightly, the pedal action becomes much smoother. It is not comfortable at all but if you put your heel at the base of the pedal it is smoother yet. Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes this can be pretty dangerous as there was a case in which a woman was putting her make up to her eyes. I guess she wasn't paying attention and hit the car in front of her and stabbed her eyes in the process.
