Decision on Blue Slate?

Just wanted to get your G drivers opinion. I'm close to getting a 08 G35 sedan in SF Bay Area, but the only colors available at the local dealers with options I want is either Blue Slate or Black. My wife already has a Flint Mica RX350 which is a dark charcoal color. What do you guys think of having two cars that are charcoal (blue slate) color?

Also those with blue slate, is it high maintenance? I know my wife's car shows off dust really well.

Thanks for your input.

I think you already know the answer if your wife has a vehicle that is also a dark colour . The Blue Slate is an awesome color though, it would be my choice over black. I chose a light color since I wanted an easier color to maintain.

Not much of a maintenance difference bet. blue slate and black.

Also BS is closer to Black that you would think -- if you dread washing/detailing your car, neither BS nor Black is for you. (Silver is best to hide all kinds of crap )

In my heavily biased opinion (IMHBO), I think BS is an awesome color -- unless you ask Shane of course

I love washing my car, so I may not be the best to ask...

I'm super happy with the Blue Slate and would take the same color again if I had it to do over again.
It changes with the light and is very close to black at night.

Very nice color!

Blue Slate! Its a rare colour. I had a lot of troubling getting one with all the packages at the time, the dealer told me there wern't enough! Blue slate is a really mysterious colour, its greyish under some lighting conditions and blue in other. Both require washing of course, but with blue slate and black, it really shows you wax.
To be honest I like black too but my previous tl was black. At first I had my mind set on white, but after seeing blue slate...

I still love the ivory pearl though, and i don't think ANY colours on the G look bad.

Both are nice colors. Of course, I'm biased to blue slate ... but black WILL show swirl marks more than blue slate over time.

I find that Blue Slate hides the dust very well, much better than black.

Thanks for everyone's input. I guess more importantly, would you own two cars that are almost the same in color?

Blue Slate would be my vote. Someone mentioned sometimes it looks gray and other times blue. Any darker colored car is going to be a little more work to keep clean but I think black is probably the most difficult.

I'd get whatever color you like the most!

Blue Slate was my #1 color choice when I was shopping for my G. Unfortunately, no one had that color in stock so I ended up with my #2 color choice. Anyway, I would stay away from black. Black shows EVERYTHING like swirls, scratches, dirt, waterspots, dings, etc. much worse than any other color.

I had the same exact dilema. My wife has a charcoal grey Honda Pilot and I was looking at blue slate and black G35s. I ended up with the black G because I just didn't want to have 2 charcoal grey cars in the garage.

Yes, black is a b*tch to keep clean, but it looks really great and it's not like my wife's charcoal grey car is all that easy to maintain either.

So, I went w/ black for contrast.

Funny thing - when I was dating my wife, EVERYONE had a white car. My car, my wife (GF at the time), her mom, her dad, her brother, her bother's GF ALL had white cars. When we were over at her parent's house, it looked ridiculous with 6 white cars parked all in front of her house.

I got the BS G35S because they didn't have the Black with the options I want (tech package). It was either the BS or the DG. My other car's color was metallic gray so I didn't want the similar color again. Although the DG looks nice, I want something new. I really wanted the Black but the BS does looks similar to Black at night.

I have a Blue Slate G35. I get tons of compliments...people always say that they only have seen them in silver, and ask where I found my color.
