Auto headlights upon unlocking ?

Has anyone ever noticed that sometimes when you unlock the doors (using the button on the door) The headlights come on. I can't figure out for the life of me what setting or combination of settings cause this. Its seems to occur almost inexplicably.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Yes this has happen to me once! It was really random. It would be pretty cool if they could always turn on like that...+1 for any ideas.

Haven't ever experienced this. The only close corrollary I've experienced is that the headlights will stay on longer, on auto after the G is switched off, if you have a door or trunk open.

I keep my headlights at the "off" position -- never seen it come "on" when I unlock the door.
So you can eliminate that as a possibility

Yea ... Its very weird it happend to me quite a few times when I first got the car but then stopped for a long while. Yesterday when I got my car back from service it happened again... I immediatley checked all the settings I possibly could, I found nothing. I was sure not to change anything but I have been unable to reproduce this phenomenon (lol).

It would def. be cool to get this to happen all the time so hopefully someone has some more ideas

thx !

Does it ever happen if the keyfob is used ? (I never use that - always the door button)

Also any diff between light switch in auto v/s on position ?

weird - if it were a feature, I would expect it to happen always

Hmm.. does our headlight turn off automatically if you accidentally leave it on the ON position after a certain period of time like some other cars??

Pretty sure it's yes, IIRC power is cut after 15 min (so lights, radio etc. all shut off).

So maybe thats how the headlights turned back on if you accidentally left them in the ON position? Just a guess.
