Angry Day/night NAV screen is driving me crazy!

OK, I don't get this. I know how it SHOULD work, but it simply works a$$ backwards...

When I turn the headlights when it's dark outside, the NAV screen remains in day mode. If I turn the car during the day time, the NAV screen ALWAYS switches to night mode.... - It never fails....

Anyone knows if there is an option that can be tweaked to correct that?

weird -- its backwards .....

in my case, the Nav remains in day mode (as in whitish background) unless the lights are on (when it goes to the dark bg mode)

Check your day/night mode switch - it should be in (i think) Auto.

If it all checks out, take it in - defly a problem

Yeah my guess is you have them set up backwards. You can set day/night and even auto mode to a specific brightness, so if you saved them in that state the car will remember.

I'd turn the lights OFF during the day and set the brightness to max, wait until it's dark and turn them ON and set night mode brightness to something that you're happy with (I have mine about 30%), then click on auto make sure it's where it's supposed to be.

Start the car with the headlights OFF.

Press the day/night button to change the screen from night mode (which you're complaining that the display shows when the lights are off) to day mode. Now the screen should be in day mode when the lights are off.

Now turn your headlights on. Press the day/night switch to change the display from day mode (which you're complaining that the display shows when the lights are on) to night mode so that the screen displays night mode when the headlights are on.

No, I had a different problem.

Here we go:

1. Start the car with lights off - the NAV shows day time view (as it should)
2. If it's DARK outside, and I turn the headlights on, the screen REMAINS in DAY mode

.... if it's DAY TIME, and I turn the headlights on, the screen switches to NIGHT mode (stars). - It's as if the computer knows the level of daylight outside and switches accordingly (only backwards).

Anyhow, a little update: I went down yesterday and after 10 minutes of messing around with the settings (don't ask me what I didn't keep track of all the fiddling...), I managed to have the following setting:

1. Lights are off - NAV screen in Day mode
2. Lights are on - NAV screen in Night mode.

My next question now is: How do I keep the display in Day mode (lights are on) when there is still daylight outside? - I know I can press the day/night button, but would that screw up my setting again?

If you have the headlights on and change your navview to show as daytime... it will remain that way until you use the button to switch it back.

So, if you get out of the car and then hop back in the next day, the navi will show as daytime even with the headlights on...until you switch it back.
