I have an '07 sedan but was farting around at infiniti.com this evening. I noticed that Serengeti Sand was gone for '08 and recalled that being around for '07. In fact, I was tempted to get my G in that color, but my wife really pushed Black Obsidian, which I am very happy with.

 

FWIW based on the members of this forum, SS had among the lowest number of buyers.

 

I have both catalogs at home, they both look the same to me... maybe I'm color blind, lol

what sticks out is the combination of exterior and interior colors, 07 had more combos...

 

I dont know about the coupe but SS on a sedan looks really good

 

SS is just flat out NASTY on any car.

And to the OP yes, Desert Platinum did replace Serengeti Sand on the '08 Sedan. What irritates me is that under certain lighting conditions, DP looks like Platinum Graphite. I hate how similar PG is to DP on the Sedan and how similar it is to Amethyst Graphite on the Coupe. I wish they'd bring back Diamond Graphite. /rant

 

I just bought a G35X in the desert platinum and couldn't be happier. Don't rely too much on the color chips. The color chip looks more gold but the vehicle in daylight is a light pewter color with a hint of light gold. We had been looking at the ivory which I really liked but couldn't find it at one of the Northern VA dealers. I also believe it will be easier to keep clean than the ivory. After seeing the desert platinum really glad I went with it. Very luxurious look to it. I saw my car next to one of the 2007 sarengetti sand vehicles and it looks totally different. The lightness of the colors is about the same but SS is more gold color.
