Edit; Better question. Can I use the controls on the g to change the songs? (for ex, the thing on the steering wheel that lets you change songs)

 

What year G do you have? Run some searches...ipod integration is a huge topic on this forum. I know 2007 and older cannot control the ipod. 2008 should have the official integration in it.

 

Yep. I have a 2008. When you hook up an ipod the display on the car shows almost exactly what the ipod does... all the menus, etc.. very sleek integration. The ipod itself even shows an infinity logo on the display .

 

Ah man, that sucks. I have an 07. Where can I learn more about integration and stuff? I hope it's simple to do. I'm going to buy an ipod soon, so it would be nice to not be scrolling with the wheel and use the control buttons instead.

 

I should note that the nav screen in the car is what controls the ipod . Nice looking.

This allows you to have iPod integration on your nav screen. While it's not as seamless as on an 08, it will at least allow you to hide away the iPod, display songs, etc. on the nav screen and use the headunit control buttons to control your iPod. Note that you will need to toggle btw XM and iPod manually as it integrates through the XM connection.
