07 G35-S wheels on 07 G35X (+ sat radio question)

Hi all. I purchased my first infiniti g35 3 days ago and I am loving it. I have been reading through the threads and faqs.

First question: I LOVE the way the S wheels look. My plan was to purchase these second hand and pop them on my X. After reading the FAQ, I saw some mixed responses. The jist I got was that 'the size conflict will break the AWD system'. Don't want that to happen! Am I stuck with the X rims?

Second question: My G has the factory sound system with no nav. Is there a way to integrate XM or Sirius with the factory head unit? I dont want to get one of those ugly display tuners. I would much prefer to be able to control it with the stock unit.

(In-case anyone wants to say 'Why diddnt you get the S model?' or 'Why diddnt you get the navi/sat package?', its because I got a frikin steal on my black beauty!)

i guess if you can get 2 sets of g35S front wheels it would work, then you would have 18x7.5" all around.

I am pretty sure you just need the xm or sirius tuner and an antenna, as all the head units are satellite ready. The car is also pre-wired for the tuner, so you just plug the tuner in and then plug the antenna in to the tuner. I believe the tuner gets installed into the trunk.

The tuner is installed under the back seat.

^^+1, You can get 7.5" wide x 18" Sport wheels front and back on the 08 G35X, the tires that come with them are 225/50/18 all seasons front and rear

Thank you guys so much for your help. I love my first G and look forward to making any excuse to drive it. I hope she treats me well!

Can I get these new 08 wheels/tires seperatly? Where should I look?

As for the tuner: Since I do not have the SAT button on my head unit, how would this work? Does it somehow use AUX? Or does it go through the RADIO AM/FM button?

DOMO <---Just because he's cool.

Either the am/fm button or the source button on the steering wheel.

I think if you don't have XM the car is pre-wired for it, but it might not have the tuner or antenna. You can look at the service manual for the location of the items and see if they're there, but my experience when dealing with Nissan is that they'll wire the car and leave the components out.

If the car is pre-wired you can always buy the tuner and just plug it in, but I don't know if it's that simple. I know cars without XM have different buttons on the dash, and I don't know if using "source" on the steering wheel would scan through the tuner after you install it.

You could always try to "satellite radio" voice command and see what that does though.

It is that simple. This is my second g35x and both have xm. The first was installed by the dealer. It was just a matter of installing the tuner and the antenna. The salesman told me they could do the same for the 07, but I wanted the factory installed shark fin antenna, so he brought in a factory installed car for me. Either way it works as a built in head unit, just perfect.

When I asked the dealer if I could buy S wheels (at the time I bought my X) he said the wheels would cost nearly US$1,000 each...yes, that's US$1,000 EACH.

Can get some great Volks with tires for that sort of money unless someone knows a source for the OEM 18" wheels where the price is not insane..?

For sure there is no way that you would buy them from a Dealer afterwards. The only way is to get a used set of OEM or do as I did and buy a nice set of wider aftermarket used wheels and tires.
