Hey celwin. Just curious, how'd it end up with the repairs?

Take it to your insurance company. I am sure she has to reimburse you for the grand regardless if you are in a "no fault" state.

Still waiting on her insurance company (state farm) to speak with her. I spoke with Statefarm this past Friday and was told the driver has still not spoken to them directly. I can't do anything until they speak with her. They have seen the car and taken pics. I also got a letter from Statefarm basically saying they are not guaranteeing they'll accept full liability. I having a strong suspicion, they are going to try to screw me over by not accepting full liability. I'm going to give it another week. If nothing then, I'm going through my insurance company.

I always try to make sure a police report is filed when people have hit me in the past. This isn't always easy to do if the accident occurs off of a public road such as a mall parking lot though. My wife got rear ended (no injuries) last year and guy came up to her and told her to pull off road so they could exchange info. Guy took off as she pulled off. First thing on my mind aside from injuries in a fender bender from now on is to get license plate and take picture of other driver and their car.

+1. You just can't trust too many people nowadays...

Hey celwin, give it that week. Then, good move. Go through your insurance company. If you have a good company, they'll fight with State Farm for you. Though, I'll tell you now, State Farm is really good too....they'll fight to avoid paying for it if they don't have to. You'll have a better chance with your company fighting for you, though....just make sure you tell your insurance company not to open a claim under your policy yet. They shouldn't have to do that while they're debating with State Farm. Good luck!

My first rear ending (just had 2nd) the driver said they had a $1000 deductible so if it was assessed as less than that they wanted to pay out of pocket. They were able to refinish my bumper for $500 but I didn't bother contacting the person at fault because Nationwide has a lifetime guarantee on all work if you use one of their "Blue Ribbon" shops. So if anything ever pops back out, or if paint peels, etc. they will fix it no questions asked. ALWAYS go with the guaranteed route even if the person at fault offers to take care of it.

BTW, those clips in the sides of the bumper pop back in surprisingly well. Mine were popped out on both sides the 1st time (hit by an Accord) and I popped them back in while I waited to get it fixed. It looked much better. The 2nd time (SUV) it was beyond hope.

Underneath that area

I'm assuming there was no structural damage, is that true?

Does anybody know if there is anything underneath that area that was damaged in the pictures? Or is there a big enough gap there before it touches anything else?

Thanks.

There was absolutely no structural damage. then again I got hit at a slow rate of speed. God knows what the damage will be if you got hit going at a higher rate of speed.
