Advice on 2008 G35 6MT price

I plan on stopping by the dealer tomorrow to talk price on the only 2008 G35s 6MT on the lot. It has Nav/Tech/Premium/rear spoiler. It is IP/Stone, but my concern is it has 420 miles on it. I stopped by this evening after work just to see if they had it on the lot, and to take it for a quick test drive. There is a bit of wear on the driver's left bolster which concerns me. Should I ask for them to replace this? Is this normal? My 06 G35 has 12k miles and literally no bolster wear on the driver's seat. How much of a deduction do you think I should ask for due to the mileage? I plan on offering $35k (MSPR: $39,415, Inv:$35,946) since this G has 420 "test drive" miles on it. Do you think this is reasonable? Should I start lower? Are there any unadvertised incentives available on the sedan? According to edmunds.com, the 08 coupe has $1000 loyalty cash and $500 conquest cash. Anything like this for the sedan that you guys know about? I'll probably do the financing through Infiniti, so that may get me some more leverage with lowering the price as well. I also plan on having the dealer put a clear bra on since I have one on my 06, and it has helped save the paint on the front. What prices were you quoted for a dealer installed clear bra? I got the dealer to throw it in for "free" when I purchased the 06. Any advice/help you guys can give would be much appreciated. Hopefully I can negotiate a great price and be in the new "G" tomorrow night. Thanks again guys!

Anyone have any advice???

update: I had to walk away last Sat. due to the dealer's negotiation techniques. They wouldn't go down to invoice, they initally told me "you're in luck, the car's still available for $39790" even though the sticker was $39415, and they wanted to give me $4500 less then what KBB and NADA listed for my car's trade-in value. I started laughing because I never had someone at an Infiniti, BMW, or Acura dealership pull this crap. Normally they'll at least come back with a price considerably lower than MSRP; never higher than MSRP! I'm not trying to buy a GT500 or Z06 here!

The sales guy called me on Monday to ask me to come in again that day, so I obliged and they offered to go invoice, sort of, but only offered $22k for my 06 G35 6MT (12k miles; pristine condition). This was still $2500 under the trade-in value. So I had to walk out again. I still don't feel comfortable paying invoice for this car with 420 miles on it already. I'm pre-approved for Infiniti financing already, so they'll be making money off of that transaction. Am I out of line to ask for below invoice on this car AND at LEAST the advertised trade-in value for my G???

ok listen quick they make lots of money on financing so they should be able to go UNDER invoice. Do not bother going in again, deal with them via email or phone and you should at least get KBB for your car. Good luck.

I say 500 under invoice, or even 1k , get the right exact numbers from edmunds include all your options, and do not budge or drag on the conversation LOL, with me its simple i say ok heres what i am offering, yes or no.

opps i forgot u should be able to get one NEW for under invoice why pay for something with so many miles. I wouldnt even consider a car with that many miles, who knows how they screwed it up and the worn bolster seems suspicious, sounds like someone returned it.

Yeah with that many miles on it, I'd wouldn't want it to be considered a "new" car by any means.

I think invoice is fair for that car; I wouldn't expect under invoice, even though it has 400+ miles. Get a good deal on the trade and get that car at invoice and I think you have a good deal.

do not agree sorry to say, if i paid $150 over invoice and got a brand new car, you should be suckered in to get one thats 400+ miles...no matter if u paid $150 less or not. whatever you pay get brand new, its not the money, its knowing what kind of car ur getting.

I would walk away and find a better deal.

At least out here in the So Cal, many are getting 08s at or below invoice. Remember that car sales have plunged dramatically due to the cooling economy and loss of home equity. New cars are a luxury most people put off when funds are short. Car dealers are working very hard to make sales.

Don't settle! MT G35s are not rare. Keep looking and get exactly what you want, ie. a new G35 w/o a worn bolster and just a few miles on the odo! You should not feel any regret or buyers remorse when shelling out $35K-$40K for something.

You guys are crazy talking like this is not a new car. It's a new car with about 2 weeks of driving on it. It's at least "like new".

I agree that this is not a "new" car. When I was buying my car, the dealership had to do a trade to get the color/option combo I wanted. When they went to pick up the car from the other dealer, they noticed it had 300 miles on it already. Without even asking me, they refused to except the trade and instead found me another car with only about 30 miles on it. It should tell you something if a dealership isn't willing to sell its customer a car with "excess" miles on it. Try using the inventory search feature on the dealer websites to find another car with the color/options you want. You will probably find one.

BTW, I bought my car at about 300 under invoice. So, yes, you should hold out for a better deal, if not a "better" car.

I'm not saying it's not a new car. I'm just saying if the dealer is wasting his time (and they are by offering to sell it for MORE than the advertised price) then he should just walk away because he can find another manual G35 w/ lower miles, without a worn bolster, and at a better deal.

I'd have no problems whatsoever purchasing a car w/ 500 miles on the odo as long as they extend the warranty by 500 miles and they sell the car at the right price and not waste my time by playing games.

Yea I would get a New One! When the First 07 Sedans came out, and they had cars strictly for test driving, and not for sale, as they only had a few 07's at the time. Now when I test drove this dealer car, it had like 300mi, and when I dorve it, I raped the hell out of it, testing the Brakes, Doing a standing start at full throttle till about 60, then on the freeway opened it up to about 100mph. full throttle, this was an Auto car. Just too see what it could do! So I would not buy a dealer Demo, you Don't know what customers put that car through! But if you get a really good deal on it, make them do a service check, etc..... just to be safe, Good luck man!

My personal recommendation would be to order a car, or have them find you one with lower miles. You never know what might have happened during those test drive miles.

Thanks to everyone for all of the advice! Needless to say, I haven't purchased the 08 G and probably won't. I think I'll just wait to see what becomes available in the future. I have to argree that 420+ miles on a "new" car is a lot of miles, but they (the salesman and manager) didn't want to hear that. It's unfortunate that this is the only Infiniti dealer in the area (El Paso, TX). That's why I purchased my 06 G from Mesa, AZ; much more competition in the Mesa/Phoenix/Scottsdale area due to the high volume of dealers. Oh well, I'll keep you posted on what's going on. Thanks again for all of the help!
