What to do about icy windshield?

Okay, we had a big snowwstorm today in Denver. On my previous cars when driving and the windshield iced up I would just blast the defrost on high temperature, the windshield would heat up and the ice would melt. With the G, defrost automatically uses cold air and if I try to auto the temp up it takes it off defrost. Any advice? (and yes, I scrape it off before driving - this is when it ices up during driving)
Thanks

I would look into getting the Hotshot wiper fluid heater. I do not know if they came up with the wireless version yet but I had the wired version I took off my car I just sold, it worked wonders, combined with proper fluid like...rainx winter stuff, its great.

My G doesn't use cold air on defrost, it often gets so hot in the car that I have to turn the temperature down. It does however use AC to remove moisture from the air, AC is not only for cooling.

Defrost does not use cold air. It turns the A/C on to remove moisture.
