After I tell people the story of how I got rid of my car (for the better cause if you remember my post), I then tell them how much that car was so friggin awesome and I miss it everyday. The G35 sedan truely is a great machine. The fact that every mag, website, and person keeps comparing it to a bmw 3 series (328 at that, and the bmw bias keep picking the 328 over it), shows you something. Remember guys, the 3 series has been considered the benchmark sport sedan for 32 years now. The G has only been out for 5 and its already rite up there with it.

Ridiculous car hands down.

good point Logik....this just goes to show where Nissan/Infiniti sets their standards, and they want to go after the top dog in each class.

I.E. 2008 GTR > PORSCH 911 TURBO

cant wait to see what the new Q45 will look like and how it will compare to the 745, LS460, S550

Maybe don't look at it as nitpicking. Maybe it's a testament to the quality of the car that people are pointing out such small issues. They could be posting about rear sub-frame tear outs like my BMW had.

I have no issue with mine eitehr. My only grip is the head unit should have been your typical Double Din size so it could be easily replaced with an aftermarket set.

No way, that would ruin the appearance of the entire centre console. The electronics system in this car is one of the features I love most.

Ohhh no, its far cheaper than the rest of the door. The plastic is hard and feels cheap to the touch. Its around where the map storage is along the doors.

Not that I care, you gotta cut corners somewhere if you wanna undercut the competition. I'm not really complaining as I love the car to death. They cut corners in ways that are relatively insignificant and hard to notice. I didn't notice it until the first time I washed the car.

The only true area of concern for me is the paint quality, as it does scratch easy. A lot of people complain about grill chipping but that has yet to become an issue for me.

I never really noticed any problem with the door panels, looks good to me .

My grill did get all pitted, but it was replaced, Problem cured

Out of all the hours/miles you drive/park you car, how much do you see that piece? It's not like you drive with the door open or anything.

Have you looked in the steering column(that huge space above the pedals)? You'll probably get a heart attack because it's not covered with carpet.

The lower door panels are fine, they're not thin flimsy plastic by any means, the door finisher on the '07-'08 are rather nice IMO. The entire interior of the new G's is miles ahead of the previous G's, having owned all versions. The doors have a nice solid feel to them when you close them. The only thing I've been disappointed in is the XM Traffic, I guess it's not really functioning in my area.

Yes I have noticed that, but that doesn't bother me. The plastic doesn't have to be flimsy to be cheap, hard plastics = cost cutting plain and simple. Did I say that the cheap plastics on the lower end of the doors bother me? No (pssst...its also along the sides of the center console, but thats extremely hard to notice as you'd have to put your hand down between the seats, good move by Infiniti to save money in a place where hardly anyone would notice). Like I said, the only way I know this is because I noticed it when I first cleaned the interior of my car. Its not like I screamed in horror, just pointing it out.

In fact, I commend Infiniti, we have a sense of how these cars are cheaper than their competitors (aside from the fact that Nissan designed the chassis to be extremely flexible so you can amortize the cost over several different models without the adverse affect of "rebadge engineering"). Are any of their cost cutting of any inconvinience to me? No, its not like they made their entire dash cheap, the quality of the dash is quite nice IMO. The only cost cutting that adversely effects the owner is the paint quality. I've a lot of random small scratches anyway...although its nothing that can't be buffed out so thats a plus.

LIke I said, its our hard earned money and we used it to buy our cars. If no one ever complained about the previous gen's interior...you think Infiniti would've bothered making such leaps and bounds to upgrade it for the new gen? I didn't think so. No car is perfect, and its human nature for people to point out the imperfections, companies take note and improve upon them in upcoming generations. My friend has a Bentley Flying Spur and there are things about that car that I'm not a fan of, and I haven't even gone over it inside and out to find little things.

If no one complained about the touchy throttle (something that doesn't bother me), you think Infiniti would've taken the time to fix that for the '08 model? If no one complained about the iPod integration issues in the '07, you think they'd of fixed that for the '08 models? Its all constructive critism and I see no reason for people to get upset or defensive just because their car isn't absolutely perfect (no car is, no matter how much you pay for it)...now if only they made a few more adjustments to the lockout features that comes with the navi.....

Pointing out faults is the only way a car company knows how to make something better. No one is on here saying "Oh, this car has *insert random small imperfection*, this thing sucks".

We bought the car because the value and satisfaction we get far outweigh the cons of the vehicle. Even as the owners find more peeves about the vehicle, that in no way implies that anyone is getting tired or annoyed with the car, unless of course they explicitly say so.
