There is a key in the fob but that's not a valet key we were talking about. Previous Infiniti's had a valet key given and it as stored in the manual.

PEOPLE THERE IS NO KEY FOR THAT VALET. THERE IS KEY IN THE KEYFOB FOR BACK UP IN CASE THE KEYFOB DOESN'T WORK.

Of course there is no "valet key" because we have push button ignitions The fob with the key removed will act as your valet key. You keep the key and give the attendant the fob....Voila! valet key for vehicles with push button ignitions

I can't see the point to do that. The valet key is good if you have a lockable glovecompartment and you want to put your stuff in it lock it and valet can't get in there. Or like some high end car have performance key so you only can push the car to its limit if you have the original key.

Valet key is an inexpensive copy key usually.

Like now you give your fob to your valet. So for what reason you keep the key?

Well...because we have a lockable glove compartment, and if you a) lock the trunk with the switch in the glove box, b) lock the glove box closed, and c) hand the valet only the fob without the key, they can't get into either the glove box or the trunk, thereby functioning exactly as a valet key.

Of course, valets rarely get to touch my G

yeah no way am I letting any valet drive my car, now even though it is inconvenient to park at hotels with only valet, i find other places to park, the idea of their dirty hands touching my wheel makes my skin crawl.

I understand that. But you give the valet your 35k+ car and he can smoke it and put a dent on it or what ever but maybe there is something in your car worth couple of 100 bucks and you are worying about that?

Just doesn't make sense.

I remember reading an article back several years ago and the reporter was asking around some driver at the hotel if they have a valet key. I can't recall the exact % age for it. It was something huge like 60-70 % of the drivers did not know they have valet key. And out of the rest only 10% was using the valet key the rest even tho they knew there is a valet key they give the original key to the valet with home keys and all other keys attached to the remote and keys.

Right, this thread went from wallet key to valet key - very confusing. The car comes with valet key but no wallet key.
