'06 Thule Roof Rack on an '07 Sedan?

Does anyone know if this will work? Thule has a roof rack for the 2006 Sedan but not the 2007, so I was thinking of getting the 2006 version.

What new bike are you going to buy when you crash yours into a garage?

j/k, but seriously almost everyone I know with a roof rack has bashed their bike (which handily also damages the roof of the vehicle).

haha, thats true. pretty much everyone i know has wrecked theirs too. i just dont want to have to trim the bumper for a hitch, and i don't want a trunk mount. and it sucks taking my bikes apart and put one in the trunk, which sucks because when i'm traveling and have luggage i can't take my bike. i used to bike almost everyday until i got the G.

There was a bolt on that was made that fit where you didn't have to do any modifications to the bumper. I think it bolted in under the bumper then cleanly came out underneath it. Its all through this thread which is a combo of 1st gen and coupes talking, but I think it could be made for our car as well.

Let us know what you do...I'd be interested as well, because no way I'll put a trunk mounted one on my car and I too hate breaking my bike down all the time.

I had a roof rack on my last car and loved it...but it was a factory rack (Thule makes them for Volvo) so nothing touched the car. the rack attached in the rain gutter & had a bolt in each tower that held it all down.

I decided to go with the hitch rack on my 07 G because i did not want to Mount a rack on the roof. i would rather remove a small amount of bumper that you can not see, than have four big spots at eye level on the top of my car.

in my experience, aftermarket racks (Thule & Yakima) are not really easy to take on & off. so most avid cyclist end up just leaving them on the roof of their car. over time the towers will scratch your roof & if you leave them on the car long enough, they will prevent the paint from fading along with the rest of the car.

Just my 2 cents....

check out this thread for some pics of my set-up...(post #33-35)

I know a girl who is on the third (yes, third) roof on her VW Golf for just that reason.
Once was her fault, the second time was at agarage getting an oil change... they lifted it right into the bike. LOL

What about ski racks? I can only fit two pair of skis into my G and there's no chance a snowboard would fit in the pass-through. How do people carry skis in this car?
