Wow... my brakes are good....

Yesterday, I was driving on a local at around 45 MPH.

When I was about to enter the intersection (on green,) a lady didn't stop on her red light
and proceeded with the right turn without even noticing me.

I slammed on my brake and the car stopped almost instantly.
I was like 6 ft away from her car when we both stopped completely.
I thought I would burn my tires and stop at least 20 ft furthur away or even crash her car.
No, my car stopped so quick, no rubber burns, that it made me weird honking and slamming for no reason.
And that's what that lady exactly have thought and gave me that look.

Oh boy... at least I found out that my horn and brake work flawlessly...

The brakes on this car have saved my life twice so far in the 14 months I've owned it. Funny, its about the last thing people talk about when buying a new car.

Yeah they are great. Brembos are great too but when you pay for the replacement it cost you more. I remember the 04 coupes had them but people had issues with brake dust and wear.

i thought we stopped faster than the g35 coupes. i was in a similar situation when someone pulled out in front of me on a curvy road, neither of our faults but i slammed on them early in the morning and instantly stop from 30-40 mph in like 1 second. awesome

Not to hijack this thread, but have you noticed a new trend with car manufacturers, that they are quoting stopping TIMES vs. distances? I first noticed Mercedes doing it, and it seems a bit odd; I don't really care if my car stops in five seconds, if the braking distance is still longer than a similar class car and results in me hitting the solid object in front of me...

Maybe they fired the guy who does the speed / time / distance calculations

Oh, and have once experienced the G invoking Brake Assist and stopping RIGHT NOW - as noted by others, it was pretty impressive.

I think the stock brake pads are really good. I made a mistake of replacing them with Hawk pads and the stopping distance is no longer the same.

A similar incident happened to me. I had a green light, and some minivan coming from the other direction tried to make a left turn in front of me. COMPLETELY cutting me off. I was going like 40mph, and slammed on the brakes, came to a complete stop like 2 feet from his car. What I didn't understand was why the minivan cutting me off slammed on his brakes too?!? There was nobody in front of him, and if he kept going it wouldn't have been nearly as close of a call.
In the OP, isbn mentioned the car at fault also came to a complete stop. Why don't these retards just keep going?? Do they think stopping in front of you will make it better??
End rant.

That is your ABS working, it's normal. That's the advantage of an ABS system, it can "modulate" the brakes much, much faster than ANY human can.

That's why manufacturers recommend that you just "put the pedal to the metal" when you need to "panic" stop. Let the ABS do the work.

I think ABS is the greatest invention in the automotive industry EVER!

It the brakes assist that helped you out, not you. I will never cars again unless it has brakes assist. The computer knows that you are in danger because of the force on the brake paddle so it gives you the extra boost to max brake ability. Trust me that thing works very well.

We always demonstrate the safety features of the car, as long as the customer is comfortable.

Any of you ever try the EBD? Try this with your friends (on a nice deserted road)

Put your friend behind you (left rear passenger seat), go up to about 60, and then, let go of the steering wheel, and slam on the brakes.

Then put your friend in the front right passenger seat, and repeat.

Agreed brakes are great. Had to use them on Monday to thwart a misguided toyota camry making a lane change from the right lane into my middle lane without bothering to check for the all clear. He came out of nowhere, and I had to hit the brakes hard to avoid hitting him while he was diagonal coming into my lane. Luckily the car behind was not too close.

I worry sometimes how good the brakes are. I continuously have yahoo's driving pickup trucks who tailgate on route 40, and think they can stop as quick as me. One of them had no choice but to rear end me when traffic stopped, and he could not in time. Other times the pickups do that weird thing were they have to drive on the shoulder to get more stopping distance.

Agreed great brakes, and great engine braking on DS mode.
