this happened to me automatically this morning on the way into work... 12 miles from the incident it announced a suggested detour in 4 miles. If you ignore or stay the course, it will announce every mile unless you select no.

well, it doesn't do that for me with the I35W bridge collapse in minneapolis. It constantly routes me on it, and would gladly let me drive off the end of the bridge if it wasn't closed off

yeah, I can't believe Dallas doesn't have this - it's basically worthless here

Same here, never seen that before, and it will drive me right into an accident that's listed on the road I'm currently on.

Maybe this only works on roads that have traffic flow data??? because the roads I'm on are info only, no flow. I see your screenshot has the green flow arrows.

Yep, hence the "detour". If the thing doesn't know you're going somewhere, it can't really tell you that there's something going on 12 miles down the road...

But I've seen incidents listed (the little upside down car) even when I don't have a destination set. It just doesn't alert you that there's something coming up because it doesn't know if you're even going that way or not.

works for me! especially with the freeways here in LA. i always get detoured around the traffic, but sometimes it really takes you out of the way.

Works for me, when it knows where the heck the roads are. You have to have a destination set.

Really?? I drive the 405 from LAX to John Wayne Airport every day round trip and it never routes me around traffic or accidents. The other day the 405-S was closed at 5:30am when I went to work and it told me to just keep going.

Even if I'm SITTING IN TRAFFIC on the 405, and go and specifically tell it to re-route it says that it can't find any alternate routes.

It's really worthless if you ask me!

Same here, I drive all over LA/OC area and even when it is showing flow and accidents it never re-routes me. I have seen that screen maybe once (and it came up right at the 405/605 interchange when getting from the left lane to the far right is impossible by the time it told me). When I am sitting in traffic and know there are alternate routes I hit the manual re-route option and it always says no alternate route available.

Only thing I use it for is to see the accidents, where they are, and what lanes are blocked by them so I can go a different route on my own.

That's what I thought, after I posted, I knew it was a stupid question. I've never had that detour pop-up for me either. Kudos to you though, for a 100% working NavTraffic.

Mine has come up a few times. I believe the problem(?) is because it will only detour you through nearby freeways. It's not accurate enough to tell you for example to get off the next off-ramp and get back on a few miles later if there are no other freeways around.
